Well, that's half true. By its very definition, magic in DC can take on many forms. There's Zatara's logomancy, Aqualad's crests are also magic, Dr. Fate's order magic, Kent Nelson's own Telekinesis, Occult magic used by non-homo magi, Raven's soul self is also magic and so on. Most of these magic types are specific to each individual or family. So I do believe the MC's abilities fit to be called Magic.
