Hahahaha Nox freaking out the parents is THE BEST! I love how they have completely misjudged the situation. Why would Nox want to bond with a dragon when the dragon can serve an even greater purpose ?*evil cackling* But honestly, cute but deadly baby dragon = perfect courting gift. Not only will it protect Aether (even from his family), but Nox is now a default coparent (aka- default HUSBAND!) I think you did a good job of showing the parents’ thought process. It also shows how their militant mindset - they automatically saw Aether as something that can be used. That lack of EQ made them totally miss Nox’s play. (Go Nox!) I'm shocked these are his real parents. I thought he must have been an illegitimate child to be treated like this. Now I'm kinda torn about how cold and mean they are. On the positive side, at least their dickishness follows the general "power = value" philosophy of their society. Hopefully, it will make it easier for Aether to survive now that he has value.
