The author has delved into many different subgenres including futuristic elements and somehow managed to keep a steady balance among all the parts. I'm so sorry for the disappointment. Sometimes authors hit a block with certain books. If you've read the last chapter, you have realized that the next chapter would feel like a new book with the characters' lives taking major changes. This is not an excuse for not updating but it takes me longer to overcome the block after such a turn. This, as well as changes in motivation to write the books you think I have dropped. I cannot promise any date to resume writing these books but I promise, I have not abandoned any of my incomplete books. I will only end them when their stories come to the planned end.
