touche, but isn't he also a teenager with limited experience? also I do see some plot holes that could be filled (like it could use a story board) but it's still one of the better novels.
I totally agree ever since she went into the dungeon I think she figured out he is lying hiding but he is still helping her so I think she is going along with it
as far as I can remember he has never made the "perfect choice" which is one of the reasons I enjoy the story. he has worked with the best he could but occasionally forgot about things like anyone else. I think he is more concerned with her pain as that is a show stopper, if he shows up to the academy with out her in decent condition it's grounds for killing him out right which they might do anyway. we don't know how high a standing asra has so it's already risky going there.
I was thinking more show them basic stuff and let them improvise, like having a bone smith because it's main job was to craft things etc
this is the second or third time a fish mouth has opened and bubbles have come out. I don't think fish have bubbles in their mouth. I have been trying to find references. Any bubbles in videos seem to be from the surface. I get that is a human like thing but it really kills the immersion for me. if you are going to use a creature from earth then it should be accurate otherwise it should be a "shark like" creature. it's a small thing but will make a big difference in the quality.
I've only made it to ch 30. The good: First of this is definitely what I would call grim dark. Story is well paced and legitimately interesting. Characters are interesting and not entirely predictable. I do like how consequences actually exist and things are written off, like there is actually a plan. the bad: the only "strong" female characters met so far is a little disappointing (very male dominated world with no diversity so far). There are some grammatical issues but not enough to be distracting (maybe one or a chapterish and I don't think it's even every chapter). There are enough cliches that it is a bit distracting though (person unlocks dangerous prisoners cell and is hurt and guard draws sword on prisoner, this is the stupid persons fault they should know better even if they are a noble, stuff like that)
first blood is a war or dueling term meaning the first to draw blood.
