The thing is it’s better to have it done at a young age because the recovery is much faster. The older you get, the messier and bloodier it is, and it takes much longer to recover.

At least varian has more morality to his actions than the abyss emperor, because had the abyssals not done what they did, and imediately go to xenocide on the humans rather than talking first. Then varian would never have done that, and wouldn’t have had a reason or even a justifiable excuse to take the actions he did

Progress though only comes in direct response to adversity. Like the author stated, would someone really try to make something that would result in an easier life for them or others via technological improvements if they alread had the ability to make those things which would make things easier for them. Like the lightbulb for us, it wouldn’t have been invented if not for the fact that oil was expensive and now look at where we’re at because of the lightbulb and all that the lightbulb opened up for different types of tech based off of it
