He was though still learning and improving his skills, mainly now he was more into Fuinjutsu. After having some field experience, he can say that he is more of an assassin type of shinobi than a head-on fighter. - natsudesai1mthCommented

i think of Itachi as hunting dog, just obeying master's word. so there is no need to treat him as a human. when he has fulfilled his duty there is no need to keep him alive or humanize him.

Even in the anime, it has shown that he loves his village and the shinobi but he has done very shady things, it's not easy to understand his true motives or how to deal with him, it's not as easy as Danzo where you just go for the kill, or Itachi where you know that he is a good guy even if he will try to kill you, as he just doesn't have any other way. - natsudesai1mthCommented
