To start my review, let's just say that this light novel is trash. I don't even know why this got to 50th something place in the golden rankings. I've yet to see an in-dept review about this book. All other negative reviews are about the translation, which, admittedly is already quite bad. And all other positive reviews have complimented this novel to death without even a proper explanation that it makes me suspicious. Now, on to my actual review. ONE, I'll just say that the writing style of this author is really superficial and shallow. He does not know how to create an atmosphere for any of his settings and events whatsoever. Let's say for example, a romantic scene. Instead of creating a romantic atmosphere for the scene, author simply rights "the atmosphere between the is romantic" Same goes for a tense scene; "the atmosphere was so tense, it was hard to breathe." This is already a bad sign for the entire book as a whole. TWO, what adds more to the shallow and superficial feel is that, every detail MUST EXPLAINED AND REPEATED IN THE SAME FUCKING PARAGRAPH. For example, "The MC is so great because he killed the enemy. Not only was MC great, but MC also killed the enemy. The enemy was also killed by MC which makes MC so great. The reason th enemy was killed was because MC was simply too great." That was an example but it's constant occurence in this novel. Like, you can skip right through to the end of the chapter and you wouldn't miss a thing. The writing style of this author is like spoon feeding his audience these details that can be summed in a sentence or two. Also, the beuaty of novels is that it allows to audience to have their own interpretations of events by filling in the gaps. But this spoon feeding style of writing keeps the audience from using their imagination to the fullest. THREE, the mood of the characters change on authors whim. In real life, when a person feels sad or angry, one cannot simply change that with a snap of a finger. There must be an adjusting process in which emotions transition from one to another. But no, author doesn't even know how to write that. FOUR, it seems very easy to offend people in this novel. Like most CN, GIVING FACE seems to be very important here. Heck, people are even willing to die because of FACE. It seems most CN give too much importance to something so superficial as always. FIVE, The concepts author comes up with for the MC to become more powerful than others are simply so shallow that it boggles my mind why other smarter older, and more expereinced characters hadn't done it yet even before he tranigrated. SIX, The romance in this is garbage. It's absolutely brainless how the author handles it. It gives me the impression of an inexperienced person trying to imagine what romance is like. All in all, this novel had quite the potential. The premise of the story was actually good. But the execution was simply done so bad, I was left cringing and just skimmed through from chapter 1 all the way to chapter 500. Reading it actually became a chore. One good thing about this is its comedy. It actually made me laugh at times. So there's that. That's all for my review.

You might like Roland Mist. He's the MC of "Experimental Log of a Crazy Lich." The novel focuses on comedy, centuries of plotting, and sprinkles of romance.

I think so too. I found LoTM first and got curious about Cuttfish's other works. I definitely saw author's progress starting from Throne of Magical Arcana, to here(Martial Arts Master), and thr absolute masterpiece that is Lord of the Mysteries.

Reverend Insanity. Gotcha. lol It felt kinda weird when I read her name as Fang Yuan. As in Gu Yue Fang Yuan. One of the best villain MCs in here and also one of the best light novels here comparable to Cuttlefish That Loves Divings' Lord of the Mysteries. I read a comment in the later chapters of LoTM that the MC here was definitely Amon-like.

The author has a history of writing a masterpiece of a novel, Reverend Insanity, which got banned. You should read it if you haven't yet and you'll understand why. But if you don't want to I'll just say that RI slaps us with the cold and hard truth of what society and ultimately humans are. Both the good and the exremely bad. And I guess massive corporates and companies don't like that.
