This is one of my favourite novels. It's such an emotional journey. The novel has every elements I like reading: strong and relatable characters, realistic relationships, realistic romance built over time, tragic background of some characters and a plot full of plot twists. In the first half of the novel we follow the journey of Luo Lan, a woman lost in an alien world without memory, who with perseverance and determination slowly build a new life for her. Unfortunately, her new life is built on a lie, so she constantly feels like she is living on quicksands where the truth will be revealed sooner or later. The second part of the novel shifts towards a more sad and somber tone: secrets get revealed and Luo Lan must come to terms with her lost identity. The romance is heart-breaking (like in any other Tong Hua's novel), so be prepared.

Yin Nanzhao surely cares for her and loves her. I think he really believes that he is not worthy of her, both because he could mutate and because he has a serious health condition. He pretented to die to cut off their relationship but still he can't help worrying about her and didn't expect Luo Lan would discover his identity

What a sad chapter. The best line to summarize is: "ten years of the warmest and beautiful memories turned into ashes"

If I don't remember wrongly, in one of the first chapter, Tong Hua compared Chen Sha with a snow-capped mountain and the Consul with a barren land to highligh their difference. So I think that with "no temperature", the author wants to say that the Consul is neither cold nor warm, his tone of voice or bearing doesn't show emotion, his detached
