I agree with you, but also want to acknowldge how the actions of Nick in these recent chapters is not only pretty out of character, but also feel sort of like a plot device rather than normal progression. It appears as though the author felt trapped by the slower pacing he had put his MC in and wanted to quickly escape that by changing the scenery of the story entirely very drastically. Tragedy is great when used well, but this seems very extreme and I expected some foreshadowing rather than this so sudden and I really have no idea how heâs planning to write Nick out of this without it looking like blatant plot armor.
Not a huge fan of the way things are going. Predestination and the lack of free will sucks tremendously when the MC rolls over and accepts it. I can only pray something changes and there is a rebellion againt fate because fate and human free will do not get along.
I wish she did look but it ended up being just the memories after the king talking to him, would make for some interesting plot events
