I had thought that there'll be a minimum of a month or 45 days confinement/post-partum care in those countries too(Well, we didn't have too much exposure to social media or extensive knowledge about practices in other parts of the world till ). As an Asian, I always thought most parts of the world had the same practices as us. Even to this day, we follow this 45 day minimum confinement in most parts of our country and sometimes it goes up to 5 months if it's a risky delivery or first delivery for the mother.
