He should demand something from the false accusation, regardless whether the higher ups wanted the trial or not. Otherwise, that's a waste of opportunity and be seen as a weakness. People will pull that off again in the future if they think that they can walk over him and use his family against him. But this also shows how little his family know or even care about him. To not only believe that he stole the jutsu, but not even show an ounce of support or confirm anything from him of the allegations against them is disgusting. He should just separate from his family as that would actually be better for them and him. Tho you could argue that it was one of the most likely way for him to get said jutsus, they still did not bother to ask him if he had other avenue to learn them.
