I know, that's why I send the wiki link and stopped talking/writing these ideas ^^
Sorry for spamming you like this ^^ But I think this wiki page might help a lot with possible powers for Luca's quirk... https://powerlisting.fandom.com/wiki/Chess_Mimicry
Or maybe, his chess pieces can gain the power of the quirks he conquered in combat. (like having him beat stain and granting his pawns said quirk)?
The story is written in multiple first person POV's, allowing the reader to experience the same scene from different lenses. Each POV used has a somewhat distinct tone that fits and resembles the POV character. This might slow down the story progression per chapter, but also grants the opportunity to put characters into the limelight. The choice of power for Luca (MC) is where the fun begins: Summoning/Imbuing himself with the power of his 15 chess pieces. But it goes even beyond that, for his quirk seems to have its own consciousness, represented as the queen piece. This enables the inner thoughts/monologue of Luca to morph into a back-and-forth with queen in mental communication. Great set-up for comedy and also emotional scenes. Now to the possible future problems of this story - Power-Creep. Luca can summon Pawns (Warriors), Knights (Cavalry/Transportation), Bishop (Mage/Healer), Rook (Tank) and Queen (Allrounder) This would put Luca into the same category as Twice/Double - a one man army. If not handled correctly it can either feel overpowered or underwhelming. Only time will tell. All in all, the cast, quirk and mc show great potential, combined with a very fitting writing style that allows the story to grow independently from the MC.
Who wouldn't enjoy it? It has such a unique and interesting quirk idea with so many unasked questions and so much potential!Thank you for your great work, and pls excuse my wall of text in the comments...
I wonder about the other set of chess pieces. Currently our MC uses only one set (white or black) but what about the other 15 (no 2nd king included)? Would he be able to use them as well? is it maybe another form? going from "white king" to "black king"? would the other set of chess pieces have the same powers or would they work differently? ahhh so many questions and only time will tell xD
I guess MC's quirk is like an upgraded form of new order. Queen represents the consciousness of the quirk itself. That would mean that its impossible to clone/steal the quirk.
so his power is split into 2 parts?part 1 - Summoning the chess pieces and commanding thempart 2 - Imbuing himself with the power of the chess piece/sPawn - Superpowered martial artists that can do unarmed and armed combat (cold & hot weapons) Knight - Cavalry, able to change their mounts into different types of transportation but limited to lances/polearms?Bishop - Wizards able to use healing magic and properly elemental manipulation or telekinetic manipulationRook - alike to a portable fortress, that can secure and defend an objective (person/area/item)Queen - Able to use all abilities listed above except for knight I assume (just as in chess)My question would be, is our MC able to promote his pawns into other pieces? If so, how (what cost/action) and is it temporary or permanent?Question Nr. 2; Are all pieces conscious and able of though/have their own personality? My guess, its going to be his quirk awakening that will unlock this power-up.
found this novel just now and I am already addicted to it!
they are probably using the same numerals as MC did in his past life, so he just remembers the position of the herb and can than read the number
reminds me a bit too much of Toyota to find it appealing as a name tbh xD
dear author, you could also use the "magic remembers" route and explain that magic remembers the path of creating the weapon and now no longer allows that path any longer.
