the ironborn don't have a succession like other lords. so if the Lord dies, his son doesn't take over they have a moot and vote who becomes the head reaper. so having Theon as a hostage means nothing . ironborn make no sense to me. Westros hates slavers but the have islands of citizens that do it all the time and they never get in trouble.
