that would be too OP, keep it as close to the game as possible otherwise walking battleships/tanks with huge guns would just obliterate everything instantly. It would be better for the story that the MC works around his limitations rather than "cheats" his way through. What he needs the most is a means of communication. It would be excruciating to read more scenes like the one where Blake guesses what he wants to say.

since you established him as not being as good at scheming, the MC will have to find his own niche to exploit. the only thing that comes to mind is his modern knowledge(if he has any?) since the heavens will plot against him if creates some kind of faction or just cultivates normally like everybody else.
