This is why I don't spend money on original novels, because despite the fact that they are getting paid for what they do, they are still often amateurs without professional standards or mindset. Loads of newbie authors don't know that writing is a job and oftentimes you have to just sit at your desk and grind away. Doesn't matter if you have no inspiration, just start writing and eventually you'll come up with something. But most of the writers are still in their honeymoon phase where everything comes easily and once that ends, they flake, choke and it becomes clear they are amateurs at heart. Or the: 'My grandparent who's 96 died, and now I'm totally devastated and can't work for a month.' Try that in any other profession or even as a professional author who works for a publisher. You'll get laughed out of the room, told to stop whining and get maybe a week off if you're lucky after which: 'get back to work!'
