Why is this the chapter 40? If it was just before this could just be a good novel, with a peaceful mood and casual parting when it fails to be voted in. Now there's a cliffhanger and so much anticipation for what happens next, it'll be even worse when a novel like this doesn't even get enough votes. Either that or it'll come back with a subpar translation from another translator with no editor.
... I know, that's the point.
What misunderstanding? It's clear that the father lil' bun's mother Qian Qing is looking for is none other than Luo Xiuran! It's a blessing that after a long and arduous search that this family will finally be reunited. ~_~
Oh my god Feng Yili no, little bun don't misunderstand, this is all just a coincidence it's really an innocent childhood relationship.

Does a country only have one name? Is the USA also not simply America? Is the UK not Britain? Do the Chinese call their own country "China" in their language? I see so many complaints about nationalism on Webnovel but these people don't understand the language, the history, the people, mundane things are seen as extraordinary simply because it's not seen through the Western lens of anglo-centrism, because it's different from what they know. There is certainly a lot of nationalism in many novels, but then many things are also just an artefact of translation from the original language, whether because the translator is bad and MTL'd it or because they found it more suitable to keep it as it is instead of saying China, which it isn't strictly because this is an alternate universe so it makes perfect sense.
Well, she did learn from his older brother on the penal planet so it's understandable, who knows, maybe his younger brother sent him there personally and stole his research notes to work on them himself too. The actual application plan for the same extract probably differs greatly though due to the difference in expertise, I really wonder how Long Qin gets out of this and slaps this old troublemaker in the face. This is a really nice book with such a unique sci-fi setting, distinct, memorable characters, and such a suspenseful/dramatic premise. I don't have very high hopes for it being picked from Webnovel's history, but this is definitely my favorite out of all the current trial novels and I really wish it'll one day have all its chapters translated for us to read.
This... is some really explosive information, if William found out... there's really no way to know what he would do. Approve? Definitely not, but would he get vengeance for Nehe under that circumstance? Begrudgingly accept it due to the risks posed by Nehe's very existence? (Unlikely given the exile) Simply condemn but take no action because it was so very long ago? There are too many factors... But, why won't Sibylla tell him herself?
... if William knew this... I understand so much more now, if he knew this, how much suffering and strife could he have prevented? If the meanings of all those random settings and hidden quests that he seemed to have handwaved away were revealed to him, how much chaos did he cause due to both his carelessness and limitations as a videogame character? How many miscommunications and conflicts had happened while he was away simply because they believed in the him who knew nothing and couldn't speak his thoughts?
I... don't know if I want her to live, because she seems like such a great person forced into that situation by everyone around her, not even being able to live or die by her own choice, she should have her own freedom and her own life. But... she is at peace with her death, her death would also mean the return of what was stolen to prolong her life, release from these forty over years of captivity from birth to death, a tragic ending to this tragic tale, even if she dies though... I really hope she can meet Rui Ming finally as her last wish before her demise.
She... she's in her forties, reaching half of a human's life. During all that time she has never even left her house, the only reason why she's in her forties is because her father left for twenty years twice. She is physically old but she's also practically a child with no real life experiences... this life is... really sad, so that's why she wanted to leave so much... no wonder she's so pure and suitable for the dao. I really hope she gets her good ending and cultivates through her love of painting that she has pursued for the last forty years.
This is a pretty strong threat, but one, if he dies it will be useless and she assumes she can kill him. Two, he's too low-profile and hasn't revealed either his identity or alternative plan for where to move the Celestial Sect. Finally, three, her character is unknown, many people don't even care for their children in the pursuit of power and ambition, it's quite common so this particular threat, while generally severe, is unreliable. In the next chapter, I expect 3 to be invalidated, 2 to be used for face-slapping, and 1 to be irrelevant.
