My knowledge of tax law is very limited and niche, so take this with a grain of salt. The income threshold for when someone is eligible to be taxed is calculated based on their total annual income. Not individual income streams. If it weren't, you would have a massive loophole where people pay themselves just under the threshold but through multiple different income streams. Considering patreon already has built in VAT charging, the German tax authorities are probably already aware of this money and its contribution to your total annual income if you reside there. It honestly isn't worth it to gamble on whether or not you should pay tax on it. Look into tax refunds for overpayed taxes in Germany, and apply to reclaim payment if you feel you overpayed.
