It is a sense of security in the continuity of power in the worst case event that Ves dies. It is 100% irrational to expect a newborn to fill Ves's unique shoes, but people ARE irrational. If they believe this, it puts some of their fears to rest. So they believe it.

I worry that would backfire. Ketis and Sharpie are both working towards swords, one as a mech designer and one as a user. moving forward as a double helix. An Emotional mech designer and a Rational are both mech designers, but vastly opposed to each other. Might give Ves split personality or mess with the Life flavor of his spiritual energy.

That's exactly the point. The nutrient baths are premade repair bays stocked to the brim with nutrients. The nutrients are very unlikely to have been created and then used in the 3 repair days, while Ves must make his repair parts. This can be chalked down to a fundamental pro/con between biomechs and classic mechs tho
