The next day, after Eve dropped Judy off at school, she went straight home.
Bryan's office seemed like a potential breakthrough, but considering yesterday's incident, the assistant probably wouldn't let her in again.
Pretending to be sick was no longer an option.
What else could she do?
Eve was feeling stuck when Rachel called her.
"Little Star messed up this time. It's really satisfying."
Rachel's laughter echoed through the phone, a bit harsh on the ears.
Eve moved her phone away from her ear to protect her eardrums.
Once Rachel finished laughing, Eve asked, "Who is Little Star?"
The laughter abruptly stopped.
"Did I ask something I shouldn't have?"
"I'm not sure."
