Chapter 1: A New Start

~ No one's POV ~

As Hanamaki was staring out of the window his mom pulled into the driveway of a medium, modern-looking home in a pretty calm neighborhood.

She turned herself around and with a warm smile said,

"What do you think honey, this is going to be our new house now."

The sixteen year old turned his head and with an expressionless face left the car. His mom sighs and pulls out the car key leaving to go after her anger son. As she made her way to the kitchen, so she could prepare dinner, Hanamaki came down the stairs, went up to the front door and while putting his jacket in he shouted,

"I'm going for a walk in the park. I'll be back before dinner!"

And with that he left the house.

~ Hanamaki's POV ~

As I walk down the side walk I keep thinking about why my mom wanted to move here and start a new life, but then I remembered what happened and just decided to listen to some music instead.

I got to the park an immediately heard a ball being smacked against the ground, then right after a white and green circle zoomed in front of me and landed on the patch of grass to the right of me.

I went to pick it up but before I could a boy with short brown hair and shiny brown eyes came and picked it up.

I froze and just stared at him. He was so beautiful and perfect it felt like time stopped. I knew he was probably weirded out but I didn't care, it's not everyday that you get to see someone like this but I should seriously stop staring or hell think I'm crazy.

As I finally collected myself I knew I had a dust of pink pink across my face so I quickly shook my head and mumbled a 'Sorry' to the confused boy.

"No it's okay but if you don't mind me asking, what's your name?", he said as an awkward smile played on his lips.

"Oh my name is Hanamaki, I just moved and came out here for some fresh air. I'm sorry again I know I probably made you feel uncomfortable...", the air felt pretty awkward but at Keats he didn't just leave.

"My name is Matsukawa and do t worry you're fine. Anyway do you want to play some volleyball for a while, if you don't have anything else to do of course!", he scratched the back of his head then pointed to the court behind him.

"Of course!", I was excited to play because it's been a while since I last did and I also Wan to find a team that I could play on.

We jogged over to the court and started playing. I knew my mom was going to call me when I had to get back home so I wasn't worried about being late.

After what felt like years of playing with Matsukawa, who was surprisingly talented, my phone buzzed and I knew I had to leave.

"Sorry I have to go eat, I hope I see you around again I really enjoyed playing with you!", I said as I grabbed my jacket off the ground and walked away.

"I really enjoyed it too! See you around!", he shouted after me.

As I was leaving the park I kept thinking about him.

I don't know why, but then again, that face and that perfect body of his - who wouldn't remember that. I knew I was bisexual and I already came out to my mom a year ago but I never really had a crush on anyone let alone a guy, but for some reason he was different.

I decided to stop thinking about it since I said to myself, 'You can't like a guy you just met, not even if he's the most beautiful person ever!', so I kept making my way home in silence.

When I got home dinner was already on the table and my mom was washing her hands.

I went to sit down and so did she, she looked a little sad but I guessed it was because I left, and I turned out to be right,

"Welcome back. How was your walk?", her voice was soft but clear indicating she wanted answers.

A wave of uneasiness washed over me,

"I-ummmm, I played v-volleyball with this boy named M-Matsukawa and he was ready good. I really enjoyed it.", after I said that I grabbed my fork and digged into the food she made.

My mom chuckled and placed her hand on my shoulder,

"I'm glad you had fun, but remember you have school tomorrow. Your uniform is already in the closet just so you know.", she removed her hand from my shoulder and started eating.

I nodded and continued eating in silence.

After we finished eating I got up to put the dishes in the sink for my mom to wash later and when I turned around she gestured for me to sit back down. I was confused but complied.

"So," she said in a teasing tone, "mind explaining to me why you were blushing when you were talking about that guy, hmmmm... Matsukawa was it?"

I was completely silent not knowing what to say, I mean I didn't even know I was doing it.

"I-I don't know w-what you're talking about... A-anyway I have to go to sleep, you know school is tomorrow and I wouldn't want to miss that!", after that I ran upstairs. I didn't want my mom to think I liked someone, if she did she would pester me for DAYS ON END.

" Suuuuure, but remember I'm always here for you darling no matter what!", she shouted at me in the same teasing tone.

I knew that she was just trying to help me, and I'm really grateful for that, but when it comes to love I think I'm able to handle it by myself.

Walking to my room I felt different, more happy.

I guess this moving thing really was for the better.

I slowly slid into bed and felt sleep creeping up on me, my mind wandered back to Matsukawa....

This day was truly a great one, one that I wouldn't forget.
