Horrible L word

On a Tuesday late in the afternoon, dressed in a white top, blue denim shorts, white sneakers and a tight high ponytail, Zoey was incredulously staring at her friend from head to toe.

Dressed in skinny jeans and a baggy t-shirt, Serena was clutching her knees with her back bent to the front panting like crazy.

It took her sometime till she regained her breath and started breathing normally.

" You look like you've seen a ghost. "

Zoey said but her tone was laced with sarcasm.

" Trust me a ghost is preferable. "

She rolled her eyes at Ria's exaggeration. Sometimes Ria was quite an asshole and Zoey would have to try her best to control herself from kicking her butt.

After classes Zoey was just chilling alone waiting for her when she came breathlessly running towards her. She was nearly on the verge of fainting.

After listening to the story, Zoey wanted to knock her head several times.

" You know, at times I really wonder, what the hell is wrong with you? Why would you do that to him? I thought you two were seeing each other... " She questioned glancing at her.

Ria gave her an ' are you crazy ' face and half shouted, " who said we were seeing each other, of course we weren't serious. Just having fun it is. But once I hear the horrible L word, sweetheart I'm off! "

" Aren't you such an asshole, so what happened after he accidentally blurted it out? "

" Of course I ran... "

" Are you crazy, why did you run? "

" Instincts. Once I hear the word, I'm off. Unfortunately my mind is accustomed. "

Ria shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. She wasn't a relationships kinda person but only loved to have fun without any commitments.

Unclasping a water bottle Zoey asked, " so what happens to the poor guy, why did you have to wait till he fell in love? "

" It's not like he didn't know, it isn't my business anyway. "

Zoey tksed before taking another gulp of the cold water. The weather was hotter that day more than usual.

Ria in turn giggled fanning herself with her hands.

Remembering something, she jerked her head towards Zoey and screamed.

" Jeez I almost forgot!! Hurry up and follow me. Now!! "

Looking confused Zoey asked, "what... to where? "

Ria took a deep breath trying to calm down.

" It's like this, today the hottest basketball players in campus are having are having a match. Almost the whole school is gathered at the Blue Court. Isn't it exciting? All the hottest dudes will be gathered there for me to choose now that I'm back in the market. "

In one breath, she finished in a high pitch her eyes glistening like shining stars.

" Oh come on! You know I'm not into those kinda things. You can leave I'm not... Ouch!! "

" Oops, you can finish later... haha... "

Zoey wanted to tell her that she'd head home first since she wasn't into those things but before she could finish her hands were already dragged by the ecstatic young woman who was bouncing up and down joyously.

She sighed and allowed herself to be dragged.

Blue Court, an indoor basketball court in the campus was filled to the brim.

Excited students and fans were scattered all over the seats munching on snacks and sodas while chatting with their group of friends, there was low music playing in the background and attractive cheerleaders who were dressed in bright outfits.

By the time they arrived, the match had already started.

According to Serena, the game was just a friendly match between a group of friends and probably classmates.

The entire mood was very bright and lively. Friends were happily chatting amongst each other.

The entire whole thing was meant for relieving one's stress and socializing. The men came hit on pretty girls while the girls came to hunt for hot dudes. Like Ria.

Zoey unwrapped a red lollipop, tossed it into her mouth before taking the farthest seat on an empty bench leaving three empty rows below hers.

Since her partner had disappeared into who knew where, she opted for playing phone games.

In no time her mind was carried away into the phone game such that the surrounding noises became muffled.
