Chapter 2: Just A Healer

Inside the guild hall of the adventurer guild of the town of Brookhaven. All the available adventurers were gathered inside because of an urgent meeting that was unexpectedly called. All the faces of the adventurers were filled with curiosity as they waited for the meeting to start.

On the other hand, Killian kept his silence, immediately knowing what this was all about by just hearing a few details from rumors spreading about it.

The town mayor came out from the staircase on the second floor, fixing his white suit. A middle-aged noble. He stood before the crowd and looked at them with seriousness.

The mayor cleared his throat. "You must be wondering why I suddenly called you all here."

The crowd remained silent, waiting for the revelation.

The mayor continued. "The first and second princesses of the kingdom of Satirica ordered this town to cooperate—a strict order. We still don't know the reason why, but the only thing we are certain of is that they are looking for something—or someone." He narrowed his eyes. "And apparently, no matter what that is, it is hidden in this town."

The whole crowd was enveloped in murmurs as they conversed with each other in confusion.

"Why this town? A small town located at the very end of the kingdom? What could they possibly search for in this place? It's not like there's something special in this place." One of the adventurers sounded.

Killian, hidden in the crowd, upon hearing the question, narrowed his eyes. He knew exactly why the two princesses were coming.

"They mentioned the incident that happened two years ago, of how a Class SSS—Calamity monster, Beberoka, suddenly disappeared while on its way to attack our town. It seems that incident finally caught their attention after two years," the mayor said.

All at once, all the eyes inside the guild hall showed recognition, and they all immediately acknowledged the truth of that fact—that it was the reason for the coming of the two princesses.

The mayor waved his hand. "But it was not the pressing issue now. The princesses are coming; the road to our town is, as everyone knows, perilous. So, I am forming a massive force to clear the way, meet the princesses on the boundary, and guide them here." He raised both of his hands. "And that is needed as fast as possible."

The adventurers raised their hands, waving their weapons while laughing. It was a massive quest—a huge opportunity to get a lot of gold. Excitement is showing in their eyes.

On the other hand, Killian remained silent, his hand on his chin. He was leaning on the wooden table behind him. He slowly nodded.

"So, the situation really is that grave now, huh? They finally decided to call for my help and search for my current whereabouts," Killian whispered in a voice he was the only one who could hear. "I guess it is time for me to finally move and show the world how powerful I have become after training for the past 50 years."

After the announcement of the mayor, the entire army of adventurers began their expedition, clearing the path towards the boundary of the town. An army of adventurers banded together as they tackled the way, securing the route for safe travel.

An echoing roar sounded as a massive ogre started an attack towards the adventurers, stopping their advance. Leading an army of goblins, they rushed in, trying to defeat the organized adventurers in an overwhelming number.

The ogre, as tall as a giant, waved its massive wooden club with spikes, making everyone on its path fly out while blood spilled out in the air.

"Cover them!" The captain of the adventurers screamed as he stood in front of the injured. "We need a healer here!"

"I am on it!" Killian screamed back after healing an injured adventurer and running towards the other one.

Killian approached the most injured; the adventurer had massive holes in his chest. Killian touched his chest, and his hand began to glow green, healing the adventurer immediately.

The adventurer immediately stood up and nodded to Killian. "Thank you, smooth womanizer; you really are a great help."

"Please stop calling me that," Killian said with a voice of surrender.

"Help!" Another injured adventurer screamed.

Killian rushed towards that adventurer, dashing while dodging the horde of goblins.

However, as Killian arrived, what he found was an adventurer lying on the ground—in front of the vicious ogre. The ogre raised its bloody club, preparing to finish off the adventurer.

The ogre's attention was taken as Killian stood between the ogre and the injured adventurer. Killian didn't say a word; he just stood there and looked into the eyes of the seemingly fearless ogre.

What the ogre saw in Killian's eyes were not the eyes of a weak healer, but a monster hidden in the facade of weakness.

The ogre shivered, and so did the wooden club it was holding. Its jaw slowly dropped—the ogre wanted to run, but it was already too afraid to even move a muscle.

And before the ogre noticed, the captain of the adventurer jumped in and stabbed it in the eye, pushing it down to the ground. The ogre died without even putting up a fight. And upon seeing the death of the ogre, the swarm of goblins began to flee.

The captain of the adventurers walked toward Killian with a smile. "Thank you for taking the attention of the ogre, Killian; it gave me the good opening I needed."

Killian showed a facade of relief, rubbing out the sweat on his head. "What took you so long, captain? I thought I would die there; I almost peed my pants in fear. One slam and I will be dead."

The sounds of laughter from the adventurers echoed throughout the place.

The captain of the adventurers put his muscular arm on Killian's shoulders. "You really are something, Killian. You are not strong, but you have the heart of a brave soldier." He laughed.
