/3 weeks later…/

'Inside one of the training rooms, Philip could be seen doing a few sets of vertical pushups, sweating heavily in the process.'

'But that wasn't all, he seemed to be wearing some kind of black skin-tight suit, and above his foot, a large gray square box was placed, acting as a weight.'

"957… 958…" Philip said as he continued with his training.

"Alright... Stop!" Exclaimed Fabrin

'Indeed, Philip wasn't alone in this room, next to him sitting on a chair and holding a timer was Fabrin, looking at him with a serious gaze.'

"Alright… 1 minute is up, continue."

"960… 961…"

'Even though he was sweating heavily, Philip did not utter even a single sound other than his own counting.'

"998… 999… 1000." He said as he stopped

'But he did not get out of position, waiting for Fabrin.'

"Alright… We're done, and it's already 8 pm, and you told me you were leaving, right? So rest for now."

/BAM!/

'In one movement, Philip pushed the box into the air and let it fall on the ground.'

'The impact of the box against the ground made the entire room tremble due to its weight…'

"Phew, that was rough." Philip said with a smile

'Fabrin's expression twisted a bit.'

"Rough? You barely even screamed these last 3 weeks, no matter how much I increased the intensity of this training…"

I almost took it too far and he was almost crushed when I suddenly increased the weight of the box by 10 times…

It wouldn't have been a problem, but if his body was to suffer such damage...

In any case, that is a matter of the past…

'As he thought of that, Fabrin gave Philip a bottle of cold water.'

"Thanks."

'After drinking everything within the bottle at once, Philip said:'

"I found it pretty hard, probably the most physical activity I had in my life."

I'm glad it's over.

"I doubt that…"

This kid…

He grew too much too fast… It's almost like a dream…

'Fabrin looked at Philip's body, he remembered everything he made his pass through, and even after that, his body was pristine without a single scar.'

I can understand now why his skills weren't in line with his body, it seems far-fetched but I think he really simply grew too fast.

He said he trained mostly alone and that he had a teacher. I wonder how he felt seeing him grow like this…

'Somewhere far away, Dae sneezed…'

"You improved a lot, it's almost impossible to recognize you." Fabrin said with a smile as he turned around to grab a wooden box

I have seen many talents, heard of many geniuses, and read about monsters…

I don't think he is a monster per se, but in some senses, he is.

Especially when he is in combat… He has a knack for learning things in practice rather than through theory.

It's a shame I can't pass on what I know to him and only give him tips, else his progress would've been even faster.

But he certainly learned some things on his own accord as we fought.

"I don't think I changed much but thank you, I did try my best…" Philip replied with a smile as he grabbed a towel to dry his face

'As Fabrin went to pick up the box, Philip looked at the calluses on his hands…'

'Due to his body's strong regeneration, making those took a lot of effort since they would always disappear and heal perfectly.'

'And even now, his skin is always healing, and the end result would be something stronger than before… And eventually, these calluses would disappear.'

'He has already come to accept this bizarre body, one that is always striving forward towards evolution…'

"Sigh."

This feeling is not bad, but in a sense, I miss my old self…

There was nothing back then that could make me miss it… It's just the memories.

My current body is everything I could've ever hoped for in my wildest dreams, so I'm not unsatisfied…

But I guess, with each step that I take, striving further from my birth parents…

So it does make me feel a bit remorseful…

This training made me realize this even more. More than fighting these bizarre creatures and people, that I am not...

'But Philip shook his head with a smile.'

I was about to say Human, but I remembered that there are stronger motherfuckers out there.

But enough of this, there's no point in being overly dramatic...

These useless thoughts…

'He started to think about what he did these past 3 weeks:'

"..."

These past 3 weeks weren't easy, but I wouldn't say they were hard.

I stopped helping Fabrin with his classes and focused solely on my training...

Well, I never really helped him in the first place.

Thankfully, he was perfectly fine with that, after all, even if I participated, I wouldn't be able to do much.

From 6 am to 8 pm, all I would do was train in this place, only stopping to do my necessities...

My body may be like this, but it doesn't run on air.

It may seem like overkill, but my body can take such intense training...

Or better put, I need to make my body go through this else it won't be able to improve... At least in a short-term scenario.

My body holds a lot of potential, even my race change was with that in mind...

So I need to train to bring this potential out.

As for the rest of my time...

During the night, I would often use the little time I had of rest to visit the libraries and scan the books in order to increase the repertoire of information on my computer…

"It still feels weird to say this…" He mumbled to himself with a smile

In the Academy, there are 13 external libraries, located outside of the main building, and 5 internal ones, located within it, followed by the Central Library.

Obviously, this is a lot of libraries… Really, it's a lot.

But it is also true that they share most of their content, I mean, they need to.

When there are so many libraries, if each had its own assortment of books it would be a pain in the ass to find what you are looking for, especially since they are located so far away from each other.

Even if you used the Academy's system, going from one library to one located on the other side of the Academy could take over half an hour even if you used special transportation means.

So they do share most of their contents, with the Central Library as a base, 95% of everything within it can be found in any of the 5 internal libraries.

But it's that 5% that matters, it's mostly high-class, or classified information that isn't meant to be seen by normal students and personnel.

However, there wasn't much I could do about that.

So I focused on scanning each and every single external library, which would be enough to cover perhaps 90% to 92% of the Central Library's contents.

But that is already a lot.

If we go by a conservative estimation, it's at least 3 Million books.

These aren't your day-to-day novel books, but academic books filled with precious knowledge and decades of research.

From history to geography, from mathematics to linguistics…

And if you were to compile all of them, you would have a proper path for many forms of supernatural abilities.

They may not be useful for me now, but who knows, I can't read all of them in a short period of time even with my current self, not even a medium or longer period can I see myself finishing them…

"I'll just study whenever I feel like it…"

'After resting for a moment, Philip got up from his chair and went to talk with Fabrin.'

"Here, take these clothes and go take a shower." Fabrin said as he gave him a wooden box containing a few sets of clothes

"These are?"

"A small gift to commemorate the ending of your training, and also an apology, since due to me, many pairs of clothes ended up ruined during training."

"Good, I was actually upset about that…"

'Fabrin rolled his eyes.'

"I'll make good use of it." Philip said with a smile as he grabbed the box

"With this, I'll take my leave, you're not the only one tired, after all, watching over you for 3 weeks was tiring in its own way…"

Now it's time to give my neglected daughter attention...

'This time, it was Philip's turn to roll his eyes.'

"Good luck out there kid." Fabrin said as he patted his shoulder, leaving towards the door

"Thanks, I just hope things don't get so bad that I'll have to rely on luck…" Philip replied with an awkward expression

'Fabrin smiled.'

'No more words were necessary, as such, he left the room.'

'Perhaps this would be the last time they will see each other, but if they do, Philip would surely give him a beating next time.'

'Turning around, Philp went to the bathroom to shower and check himself one last time before proceeding with his plan…'

/8 minutes later…/

'After leaving the bathroom, Philip received a message from Viera, who was waiting for him in the Academy's teleportation room.'

'Once he finished reading it, his expression changed.'

"It's time." He said as he looked at the Academy's main building

'His eyes focused at the very top of the tower...'

'Today would be the day he would execute his plan, and since a week ago, he had already set up all preparations.'

'If he failed, there was no second chance, so he would either leave victorious or defeated.'

'But regardless of which one it is, Philip would try his best to leave as fast as he could, and as silently as possible, because what he was about to do could anger many…'

'More than what he would be comfortable with dealing with.'

"...Yes… Why? I'll tell you later… Just be patient, I'll be there soon." Philip said as he ended the call

"I'm sorry Viera, but you'll have to wait at least an extra hour…"

No time to waste then…

'Philip immediately made his way to his room, where he grabbed his suitcase.'

"With this, the only thing left is…"

To check my status…

'Philip started by his secondary status:'

"Almost there, just a bit more." Philip said with a smile

If the requirements to get a new Class are the same every time, then as soon as I max the Abilities and Skills directly related to it, I'll have met the first requirement.

In other terms, it's to reach my Class's maximum potential…

Being honest with myself, I do think I have surpassed the original potential of this Class, as I'm way beyond what Samuel could've ever been…

Even if he died early and received a serious injury, I don't think he would've accomplished the same within his lifetime.

I'm not trying to brag, it's just that our conditions were too different.

But if there is one thing I'm sure of, is that as soon as I max Ripper mode I'll find out whether I have reached its maximum potential or not.

The second one is relative.

Last time, I received a message saying I had already met my Class fate… Or whatever that means.

There is a lot to interpret from this.

If we look at its origin, Samuel's fate was to die so Raiden could understand the reason behind his sword and his own goals.

But at the same time, Samuel lived by a code and died happy because in a sense, he was trying to find a reason to live and a goal to strive for.

And his fight and eventual death at the hands of Raiden was everything he was looking for.

"But I have no intention of dying in the hands of another opponent."

So that can't be it… If it is... Wouldn't it have been accomplished already?

'Philip's expression twisted as he remembered his fights against Fabrin...'

It could've been that he wasn't being serious, but I doubt that even if he wanted to kill me for real, anything would've changed.

What is the worth of achieving my fate if I die?

I don't need such a thing.

"But if I can't accomplish it, I have no idea how to progress..." Philip said with annoyance

Regardless, I've already put a lot of thought into this and it's useless to drive myself insane now of all times.

I need to focus on the task at hand and what's in front of me.

'He closed and opened his eyes, now focusing his eyes on his status.'

There are two things to point out about this status though.

The Phantom Sword Skill and the Inhuman Martial arts.

Surprisingly, the potential of the Phantom sword keeps increasing, and of all of the Skills and Abilities of this Class, it has surpassed the Lv 15 barrier and gone into a new stage.

Showing that it can grow beyond that and into a realm of its own…

The only one that did that was Skill Fusion... But that Skill is special.

Fabrin said that the sword I had and this Skill were things I was supposed to figure out for myself, and I found that pretty weird at the start but I now understand it a bit better.

"It must be a misunderstanding... No, without a doubt it's a misunderstanding."

From the perspective of a swordsman, reaching a level where he can cut something without moving his sword, from a range bigger than his own sword, in a sort of imaginary yet real way…

This must be a pretty big deal.

I did that through a Skill, but there is no way for Fabrin to confirm that. So he assumed the simplest...

He only did the most sensible thing and tried to guide me in a vague way so I could understand things at my own pace…

This is my interpretation, and I could be wrong, but I think it's the most accurate.

I'll keep an eye on it, but this Skill isn't on my list of priorities right now.

Following that, Inhuman Martial arts.

As shown, they are still incomplete, but I have perfected what I already have.

This means, I have mastered its use and I don't feel pain from using it normally anymore.

I could even push myself further in order to bring more out of this martial art, something I couldn't do without hurting myself.

Cutting unnecessary movements and making the unnatural more natural…

But now, I'm left with something incomplete, and I have no idea what to do in order to perfect it.

Fabrin told me it lacked a core, like how a magician uses magic to cast a spell, perhaps I could employ something to give it that last humph...

Or something else like Life force and Auror...

But that takes time, going over each movement, and trying to adapt it to a new power source…

One that I don't know much about… All of it gives me quite a headache.

My original idea was to fuse it with my other Ability, the modified Pthumerian Combat art.

Since it's an Ability, I can replicate it within my first Status, but only when I pass at least one Skill/Ability first.

Because there is some sort of principle within it that prevents me from fully copying it…

But until I'm given such a chance, I'll have to remain with what I have.

The most important thing is that now I can use the two at the same time without side effects.

No more do I need to consider when to use each, I can just go full all out at once.

"Next…"

"It feels… Empty."

But that is merely my imagination, I became spoiled with my secondary statuses.

A rather substantial amount changed in this Status as well.

Most importantly, I maxed out the combat art as well… I should've thanked Fabrin more.

Every day, he would fight me, train with me, and give me tips from his experience, thanks to that and my traits and talents, I managed to grow extremely fast.

Most of my skills Leveled at least once, and Skill Fusion even evolved when it hit Level 20.

Now it can do much more!

[Advanced Skill fusion Lv1

Effects:

-Massively Improves the efficacy of "skill" fusion.

-Has a Medium chance of detecting suitable skills for merge when they appear.

-Has a Medium chance of telling the end result of a skill fusion.

>Adds a significant chance of "critical fusion". Greatly increasing the end result of the fusion

-Critical fusion greatly increases the Skill's Level and quality.

>Can bypass restrictions.

-Skill Fusion can now be used to break undesirable Skills, turning them into progression for other Skills.

>Breaking Skills with Low potential has better efficiency than breaking ones with High potential.

>Breaking a Low-Level Skill has better efficiency than breaking a High Level one.

"Something that was only possible when I first came into this world with the help of the guide… Now I can do it whenever I wish."

Breaking weak Skills and using their proficiency in something more worthwhile…

It is important to say, this is only applicable for Skills and not for Abilities.

In the first place, breaking something like a Mathematics Ability, and turning it into proficiency to be used in a Magic Ability wouldn't make sense.

That's why this is only applicable to Skills.

Well... Trying to use logic in the system isn't really a sensible thing to do in the first place...

"It'll surely help me in the future."

And even though the number of miscellaneous Skills I've been accumulating has decreased, they still pop up from time to time.

I normally hide them from my Status so as to not overwhelm me, but they are there.

The highest of them all is surprising, my Cooking Skill, has already reached Level 8...

But I just don't feel like putting it on my status.

"Going from top to bottom:"

"My Title, Martial enthusiast changed to Martial Adept, but that doesn't change much."

It's pretty insignificant.

"My stats increased slightly due to the intensity of the training. And even though they are already high, they did increase considerably in the span of 3 weeks."

This is to show how intense this training was…

Although you can also attribute this change to the high potential my body intrinsically possesses.

"All Abilities related to Mental power have also developed nicely, but they are very hard to improve."

They require a lot of study and insight into the nature of the mind, so there is only so much I can do with effort.

Without studying and referring to other works, I won't be able to advance that fast.

This is why Mental force was Leveled 3 times, and Mental force manipulation went up 4 times.

Even my Mental Domain Leveled once, showing that I am indeed becoming better at this…

Although I still believe to be far from doing something like Viera's master…

That damn woman that left without explaining much...

"I studied a bit of language in my spare time, and sure enough, from hearing and talking a lot, it Leveled up once."

And lastly, one of the most significant changes… The maximization of the Scholar Vision Skill.

In its current state, I can see the Level of someone 55 Levels above me... Although that is pretty useless to me, more information is never bad.

And I already know how to improve it further! To become a Grand Scholar!

There are two ways, the first one is to be recognized by another Great Scholar. But he needs to believe in it from the bottom of his heart that I am worthy of becoming one…

And the other one is to continue accumulating knowledge until it changes on its own…

Both require time… And a bit of luck.

"I feel old, I don't have time to do shit anymore. Sigh." He said with a frown

"Apart from these, nothing much changed, but even so, my strength is at least a Level above what I previously was."

I'm sure of it, I would've managed to kill my old self pretty easily.

Perhaps not easily… But it would've been a rather simple fight.

I outclass my old self in every single way, and the most significant change is the increase in the time that I can last with full power.

Previously, full power would equate to a short burst of a few swings with my sword, now I can do that multiple times over.

Fabrin was right, previously, I wasn't capable of drawing out my strength properly.

"I can't defeat him head-on, but if I were this strong the first time we met, would the result be different?"

'After thinking for a moment, Philip smiled and said:'

"It were some very useful 3 weeks…"

'Without further ado, Philip said goodbye to his home and left.'

"Goodbye..."

This place served well as my base.

/Sometime later.../

/Whispers.../

'After walking through many corridors and hallways, Philip finally arrived at a large garden.'

'In the middle of the garden was a massive magical obelisk, with many floating stones around it.'

'Each stone glowed with its own unique color, and each had its own carvings.'

'Behind the obelisk was a massive smooth black gate leading to the deeper areas of the Academy, but no one apart from the top Council of the Academy was allowed there.'

'It was simple yet fancy since it was made entirely from Compressed Obsidian, a very expensive material.'

'Taking a few steps back to the Obelisk, if you looked closely at each floating stone, you would notice many small glowing runes.'

'Each of those stones recorded a story... It was a small biography.'

'Each stone contained the biography of the Academy heads and also those of the more important members this Academy ever had.'

'The garden was very peaceful, and it was one of the few places where people seemed calmer and neutral.'

'This was because no one had the balls to cause trouble here...'

"Because if they do, they'll be punished heavily." Philip mumbled with a serious expression

'He breathed deeply, from here on, there is no room for mistakes.'

'After looking around, he noticed a twisted dead tree, and with a thin smile, he approached it.'

'He soon noticed a small plaque right in front of it...'

/Ashen Bite Tree/

"..."

It's here...

But just to be sure...

'He looked around the garden for an extra minute but didn't see a single extra Ashen tree, this was the place.'

'Without hesitation, he walked past the tree and started to count his steps...'

21... 22... Turn 24 degrees right and walk 13 more steps...

'Following the set of instructions given to him by Dae, he arrived in front of the wall that surrounded the garden, a section that was hidden by the foliage.'

"...!"

'He soon noticed a single brick.'

'What made this brick special was that its color was a bit brighter than the others, and upon a closer look, he saw what seemed to be a random white scratch mark.'

'Most would simply ignore this brick, but the smarter ones would quickly realize...'

"I found it."

The bricks in this place are super hard, it's impossible for them to receive a scratch this easily...

/Drip.../

'He cut the tip of his finger and started to draw symbols on the brick...'

'He drew an inverted triangle and filled it with strange runes...'

/Dinnn!/

'A clear ring echoed in his ears, and a translucent and clear, trembling barrier appeared in front of him.'

'Smiling, the first step of the plan was done.'

"..."

From now on it's a fight for time.

'He used all of the focus he had and even some Skills, all to quickly draw as many symbols and as perfectly with his blood as he could in the barrier...'

/3 minutes of writing later.../

'With each minute the clear barrier became darker and darker, indicating that his time was coming to an end...'

'If he failed, an alarm would resound across the entire Academy, and a massive marker would point at him.'

'It would be the end of his short life...'

'But Philip's expression did not change.'

"And... Pop." He said with a smile

/Pop!/

'Just as Philip drew his final symbol, the strange barrier popped like a bubble, revealing a strange black fissure...'

'He smiled and raised his hands...'

"HUFF!"

Damn!

'Using his physical strength, he grabbed the edges of the fissure and pulled...'

/Crack.../

'The fissure stretched and the air cracked as a portal big enough for him to pass through appeared.'

/Splash!/

'He didn't utter a word, passing through the portal without looking back.'

'As he passed, the portal splashed as if he had entered in water...'

'Once he fully crossed it, the portal closed and the fissure disappeared as if it was never there, while the scratch mark on the brick disappeared.'

...

"Urg... It's way too dark." Philip said out loud

/Spark!/

'As if hearing him, the room he was in suddenly lit up magically, revealing what it actually was...'

'It was a big office, filled with dozens of bookshelves that were each respectively filled with all sorts of exotic items.'

'In the middle of the room was a large crucible with a blue Star shining above it.'

'It was a perfect miniature star, it was very beautiful to stare at...'

'The star emitted a soothing warmth that eased Philip's body. It wasn't something mental like a charm, but more like standing under the sun under the gentle breeze...'

"I did it." He said with a smile

The hard part was done...

"Now..."

Now to get those damn Orbs and leave this place for good.

'He looked around, but saw nothing like what he was looking for.'

'Instead, he saw a series of bizarre and exotic items he had never seen before.'

"This will take a while..."

Worse, I am in the office of the principal of this Academy... No, of all principals through history...

Even a simple alchemical reagent could spell the end of my life...

If I touch something I shouldn't...

Although, I should be strong enough to live through... I hope.

'After breathing in and out, Philip walked to the table near the back of the room.'

'He thought, if there was something important here, it would be near or on the main office table, right?'

'He approached the table, but he froze for a moment as he bent his back to grab the piece of paper that lay on top of it...'

"..."

/Silence.../

"No no, boy, go on. Do your thing. I'll just watch." Said an elderly voice on his left

'Philip slowly turned to the side and looked at the origin of the voice, it was an almost transparent old man without a beard, but his hair was unrealistically spiked.'

'His face looked oddly young, but it contained no vitality as if he could die anytime.'

"Gr-Greetings Principal." Philip said with a bow

'The old man raised his right eyebrow in wonder.'

"... Really? After everything, you're going to greet me? Do you even mean it?" He said with a very serious face

'But when everything seemed to go bad...'

"Wheeeeze... HAHAHAHAHA... I'm dying... Please... HAHAHAHA..." He said as he laughed

"..."

'Philip looked at the old man with a stunning poker face, trying to figure out what was happening.'

"Haha... That was good... Really good... Cough cough!"

'He quickly recovered and said:'

"Anyway, since you greeted me, I will greet you as well, although I think there is no need for such things."

"Armund Erat, I imagine you know what I am already." He said with a gentle smile

"It's not every day I see someone trespassing onto my office, although this happened quite a bit recently... Sigh."

"In any case, I'm deeply impressed young man."

"Even though it seems you followed some sort of instructions, you successfully broke through the barrier of the emergency passage and arrived here."

"Although... I thought I my first time meeting someone since I left would be through one of the tests I left behind..."

"So I would like to ask, what did you wish to accomplish by coming here?" He asked seriously

"... I am looking for something." Philip said as he remembered what was written in Dae's diary

As long as I am truthful to my words...

"Everyone is looking for something young man... Although it greatly interests me what sort of thing a young man like yourself seeks in this old place."

'The old man walked to one of the shelves, grabbing something.'

"Is it power? Your body is quite resilient and I can feel extreme Mental waves coming from you... So what about some materials?"

'But seeing Philip's expression, he went to another shelf and grabbed a book.'

"Or is it knowledge that you seek? Someone young like you should be in dire need of it."

"Perhaps it's more precise, a technique perhaps? Youngsters always dream of finding a Legendary technique..."

'But Philip did not react, and instead, he said:'

"It's complicated."

'Philip did not say anything, and instead, took out the wooden box containing the Origin Orb.'

'He opened it to the old man, and it took a moment, but the old man immediately understood.'

'His brows were now furrowed as he said in a deep tone, throwing away his cheerful persona:'

"Who do you follow? Is it those pesky creatures further North? Or those ignorant fellows from the South?" He asked

'But Philip became confused.'

"Follow? I'm ashamed to say, but currently, I'm not following anyone."

"At most, I'm currently doing a task for a friend."

"..."

'Armund stared at Philip with his worn-out eyes, before letting out a sign of frustration.'

"What sort of life did you live in your past life to be burned with such a task? And how many hardships did you force this friend of yours to go through for him to curse you with such a task?"

"..."

I don't know, as the past life me...

'Armund stayed silent for a while before saying:'

"I was planning on giving you whatever you came here to get as a reward, but that is another story..."

'He thought for another moment before saying with a smile:'

"What do you think of making a deal with me?"

"Wh... How could I even help someone of your..."

I'm already full of shit to do, no more tasks, please...

"It's simple. I did a lot in my life and accomplished a lot... But I have some regrets."

"Things I cannot accomplish anymore."

"I reached the 9th Circle when I was 41 and spent all of my remaining years studying how to achieve the next one... But I ended up cutting everything else from my life."

"And even when I reached the 10th and final Circle of Magic, I never managed to recover what I lost."

"Worse, even after everything I did and went through, I wasn't strong enough to defend everything I had gathered over the course of my life... Don't you think it's ironic?"

"Because of my dangerous experiments, my lifespan was cut and I reached the end of my life much faster than I should've."

"With the pressure from the outside, I decided to leave on several journeys to understand more about myself..."

"Due to this, the Academy that I once grew in now degenerated to this abhorrent state..."

"And even till the very end, nothing changed."

'After Armund was done with his monologue, Philip asked:'

"You talk as if you..."

"Indeed, I am already dead." He said with a serious gaze

"You're talking with a fragment I left behind, in a desperate attempt to wright the wrongs right..."

"Why tell me all of that?"

'Armund turned around, giving his back to him.'

"I don't think I'll have another chance at this, and between giving my everything to those bastards, I would prefer to have one last gamble..."

'He then shrugged, saying:'

"Not like I care, I'm dead anyway..."

"So my deal is simple."

"Help me. And in exchange, I'll give you what you're looking for..."
