142 Chapter 142: Become A Better Person?

" Yeah, I lied, I just wanted a reason to get you out of this room. "

Mai's face went blank, as soon as she heard this. Before she began to grit her teeth and mumble out in anger. " You have no idea, how much I want to hit you right now. " Mute scoffed at the threat Before he responded.

" And that would be the last action you would ever do. "An awkward silence emerged between the two. Until Mai spun around and walked towards the kitchen inside the penthouse, opening the fridge and grabbing onto a can of Soda. Quickly chucking it, at Mute who easily caught it.

Instead of drinking the Soda, he simply placed it down on the table in front of him and leaned back into his chair with his arms behind his head. Mai stared at him, before asking a question. " Are you going to open it? "

" If you wanted me to drink it. You shouldn't have thrown it across the room, it will spew if I open it. " Responded Mute, who kept on watching the news in front of him. Mai smacked her lips, before walking towards Mute stopping directly next to him. She began to also watch the TV, watching countless reporters being slaughtered by curses.

They watched the news for several minutes in complete silence, until Mute spoke asking Mai a question. " Do you know where the Jujutsu High Sorcerers are currently located? " Mai looked down at Mute confused, until she answered the question. " Even if I do, why would I ever tell you their location? "

" Because I want to make a deal with them. " This sudden proposal made Mai's face contort, as her mind began to race with thoughts. Until she landed on one conclusion and promptly answered. " A deal? Yeah right, you just want to eliminate them, removing pawns off the board, before the main battle commences. "

" It wouldn't be a bad plan. if doing so, wouldn't leave me at a disadvantage. Killing them would make me battle Kenjaku and Sukuna by myself. So, truthfully, I do want to strike a deal with them. If you don't trust me, we can always make another binding vow. " Responded Mute, Mai pondered about it. Until she let out a sigh and spoke fine.

" I'll only do so if you agree to not attack anyone at this meeting. "

" Sure. But if they attack me. I have all right to fight back don't you think? " Responded Mute.

" Tsk, fine. I'll agree to it. Under no circumstances can you fight or endanger the Jujutsu High Sorcerers during this meeting unless they attack first. " Said Mai slightly irritated.

"It's a deal. " Said Mute with a grin...

As Mai and Mute finished creating their binding vow, inside a dense forest, several miles away from any civilization. Yuji, Todo, Shoko, and an unconscious Nobara could be seen, gathered together, obviously exhausted.

Nobara was lying on the ground slowly being healed by Shoko, whose skin was pale. Showing signs of how little curse energy she had left. A few minutes ago, the news of Itadori's execution being reestablished was announced by Jujutsu Higher-Ups something that Shoko already knew would come into fruition.

The sorcerers planned on hiding away in this forest until they regained their cursed energy, and could battle the assassins that would be sent after Yuji. Kusakabe and Panda were currently in a small village gathering supplies, Hakari oddly disappeared after the Shibuya incident. The others questioned, Shoko. On the whereabouts of Hakari, but she simply stated that it would be better to leave him alone for the time being.

The group was completely silent, as Yuji stared at the ground. His eyes were hollow and lifeless. Scars covered his face from his battle with Mahito. He took a single inhale before he spoke in a somber tone.

"It's my fault. All of this is my fault. If I let the Higher-Ups kill me in the beginning, none of this would have happened. " As soon as Yuji said this, Todo quickly rejected his claim, speaking. " Stop spewing nonsense brother. Any man, woman, or child would want to survive. Do not feel shame for the actions you caused. Don't let those said actions bury you. Instead, restore them. Make people forgive you for your past sins. No Sorcerer is perfect. Not you. Not me. Not even Gojo Satoru is perfect. Even he has his flaws. Don't blame yourself, no one could stop Sukuna in that state. "

Yuji nodded, and was about to respond, before abruptly the sound of footsteps rippled out, making everyone snap their heads towards the noise. They watched as a figure slowly walked towards them with its fists tightly balled. Powerful energy, swept across the Yuji and the other sorcerers' bodies making their hair blow wildly.

The figure took a single deep breath before he spoke angrily. " Damn it. Why did Yuta and Yuki have to die... " This figure was none other than Hakari. Who had gone on a walk to calm his nerves but clearly, the walk didn't lead too much. Powerful curse energy flowed off his body until Shoko spoke in a weak voice.

" You scared us for a second, we thought you were Mute. " Hakari scoffed at the comment and responded. " Mute wouldn't have given us a warning. He would have just appeared next to one of us. And attacked. " Shoko nodded, before she began to speak.

" I need someone to talk to Nanami, we need all hands on deck. If we wish to protect...p-protect. " Before Shoko could finish her sentence, her eyes widened as she stared at Hakari. Hakari stared at her confused until the feeling of someone touching his shoulder rippled through his body. Instantly, chills swept down Hakari's spine. As a voice spoke in a frigid tone.

" He's right you know. If I wanted to kill any of you. I wouldn't have given a warning. " Hakari quickly glanced to his right, only to see...Mute leaning on his shoulder, with a grin on his face...
