1 End of Zen

From the tallest mage tower of the famous Archmage Litoh, Gylos lit up the candle from his dark room again for who knows how many times.

Being the son of Litoh the world expects nothing but greatness from him, yet Gylos was nothing but a failure with a terrifying amount of prana that even surpassed his own great archmage father. His achievement with magic was mediocre or even worse.

Yet having lots of prana means nothing if you can not replenish your pool in the world that was exhausted with prana.

It was the darkest era in the world of Zen, the sun itself was replace by the void that swallows up dry worlds. Gylos was sitting on his father's study reading books for a whole decade of his life. Using up what's leftover on his prana pool to light up a candle and to replace food to keep his body alive.

As for his father? Gylos doesn't know where does Litoh escaped. After all, only mages on Litoh's notch can escape the void.

After his usual reminiscing about the glorious past of Zen, he finally admitted that it was his time to give up. From the millions of people living around Zen, probably a thousand or a few hundred only remained. Those mages who studied and work hard to increase their prana or those born freak like Gylos belong to those who remained that yet to exhaust their reserves.

"I think I finally read all the books in here, my old man should be roaming around to some dammed world or space or whatever it was."

"I should rest too."

Gylos sneered.

"If only father were here when I was born, I probably got more seduce with magic and mages."

With a spark of his hand, Gylos produced a blinding light from the last ounce of his prana.

Closing his eyes, Gylos felt what true darkness was.

'It's finally ending.'

He thought.

...

Outside the Tower

Several hundred mages look up from the tallest tower from their view. The light Gylos produced of what prana remained on him was visible to everyone. What blinding light Gylos produced was only a speck around the world.

But that speck of light was as visible as the sun from the void of darkness eating up Zen.

"That freak gave up."

"Litoh's bastard finally dried up eh?"

"Another one."

Different whispers echoed from every mages who saw the light. Whatever it was, they know one way or another they might do just the same way on the little time they have.

...

Zen 20,000 years later.

"Gasp!"

A good looking guy with a toned body stood up from an hospital bed. He was half naked and some sort of wires and devices was attached on him.

'Wait, how did I survive?'

Gylos stares at what a window looks like from his time except that it was cover with hard transparent glass.

What he saw amazed him even more.

Buildings as tall as his father's tower soared on the sky and it was not only one! Those 'towers' he saw covers Gylos sight. Moreover, floating metals travels past through some sort of gray path.

And to make him even more surprised, Gylos saw people walking around, talking to each other outside the 'glassed window'

"Wait.. wait.. wait... How did humanity survived—"

After saying those words, Gylos fell again on his hospital bed, holding his head. His face was in distress as he felt throbbing pain that attacks his mind as memory floods him of what happened on the body he possessed.

The visual monitors around him shows dangerous warning alerting whose in monitor of him.

The door opened, the doctor and nurses rushed to Gylos whose still in pain on his bed. Quickly as they enter, the doctor injected something on Gylos making him stiff and fall asleep instantly.
