CHAPTER 1: HOW THE WORLD BECAME A COMIC BOOK.

In the year 1990, a strange incident occurred. A meteorite from space was about to hit the Earth, and astronomers in the United States calculated that it was headed for Texas. Screams and cries filled Texas, instilling fear in the hearts of people who believed they were about to lose their lives. Chaos ensued as the UN government couldn't stand idly by. They issued an evacuation order and deployed the military to maintain order and ensure the evacuation's success.

After a few hours of evacuation, half of the citizens were successfully evacuated, leaving the remaining half in a race against time. As the sky darkened, screams intensified, and chaos erupted beyond the military's control. Fear had gripped everyone, leading to conflict between the citizens and the military. Despite their efforts to calm the situation, fear prevailed, blocking their ears from hearing the soldiers' pleas. Realizing they were running out of time, they had only two minutes before impact. Some cried, others embraced their loved ones, while some bid farewell to their partners. Then, the meteorite collided with Texas, devastating the area and claiming many lives. Subsequently, a powerful shockwave emanated from the meteorite, spreading throughout the entire Earth before it began to disintegrate.

After three days, scientists rushed to Texas to investigate the meteorite but were shocked to find a massive hole. During their investigation, they interrogated a soldier who survived the collision and learned that the meteorite began to disintegrate after being hit by a shockwave. One scientist, while exploring the collision site, discovered a small reddish crystal. Initially dismissing it, he later found a similar material in the blood of a person with extraordinary abilities.

After one month of the incident, the UN government began rebuilding Texas, but reports emerged of people exhibiting strange abilities worldwide. Initially dismissed as myth, these reports became widespread, with newborn babies demonstrating impossible feats. This led to fear and misunderstanding, with some people exploiting their abilities while others became outcasts or faced persecution. Doctor Jones, the scientist who found the crystal, conducted experiments and discovered its connection to the newfound abilities. He presented his findings, explaining that the shockwave had altered the DNA of a few individuals, granting them these abilities. Despite efforts to educate the public, ignorance persisted, leading to conflicts and vigilante justice.

In 1991, world leaders convened and enacted laws to address the chaos caused by these newfound abilities. They mandated that individuals with abilities obtain licenses for their use and established an organization called Anchor to hire people who wanted to be heroes. Anchor was an international organization, with each country having one. Divisions were established in cities to separate individuals with abilities from "normals," and stringent penalties were imposed for unauthorized use of abilities. Despite these measures, challenges persisted, leading to further legislation and the establishment of schools to train the next generation of individuals with abilities.

By 1998, peace and stability had largely returned, with controversies over the division of people subsiding. Laws were enacted to prevent the exploitation of abilities for warfare, and measures were implemented to ensure proper training for individuals with abilities. However, challenges remained as the world continued to adapt to this new reality.

In 2000, Doctor Jones succumbed to an illness. Due to the long exposure to the crystal, it had tremendous effects on him. But the sickness didn't discourage him; he still studied the crystal. Soon, he named the material in the crystal "Melecrium" and gave a term people should use instead of superpowers or abilities: the term was "Melic". Then, before his death, he proposed three theories:

1. "Melics cannot be transferred from one person to another except through birth."

2. "When people with Melics give birth, their Melics can merge and be passed on to their babies."

3. "In certain conditions, when people with Melics give birth, their offspring may not inherit a Melic."

These were his theories after his death.

In 2024, everything began to normalize. People soon accepted the new change. But an organization called "Melic Thieves" began to kidnap kids and experiment on them on how to transfer Melics from the kids to them. People's babies began to go missing at an alarming rate. This is where my story begins. I am Nobubaki Takahashi, an ordinary citizen, and this is how I found myself embroiled in a world of chaos and intrigue. And became one of Japan's most wanted villains.
