8 Chapter 8

-- A Few Minutes Later --

"Keep rowing Sye," I shouted as me and Jaden were laying down on the boat, while the cyan haired midget was rowing us to the shore.

"Why do I have to do this again?" he said as he cried anime tears,

Jaden and I laughed a bit, then I remembered something,

"Hey Sye, you wouldn't happen to have a few extra copies of Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive now, would you?" I ask, he had used it in the anime… I think.

"Eh? I do, why?" he asks as he stops crying, and rowing,

"How about, I row the rest of the way and you give me the extra copies you have?" I suggested, I had to start improving my deck somewhere,

"Hm…" Syrus took a thinking pose before nodding his head, "Sure," he said with a relief look on his silly face

I smiled before switching seats with Syrus and started rowing.

Get a cute girls number, and a solid draw monster. This day keeps getting better and better.

-- The Next Day, Saturday --

After breakfast, Syrus approached me,

"Hey Konami, I brought the cards," he said as he passed me two copies of the Flip Effect monster.

"Thanks, Sye, these cards will help me a lot," I said with a smile as I put them into my side deck,

"No, thank you for saving me from getting expelled," he said

"Don't mention it, man, you would have done the same," I said 'If you could,' part was unsaid

"Yeah, I would," he said with a smile before running off,

After he was gone, I took one of the copies of those cards out of the side deck and took a good look at it. Read its text twice and made sure it was not a bullshit anime effect that is completely different.

[FLIP: Draw 1 card, then draw 1 additional card for each face-up "Bokoichi the Freightening Car" you control.]

"Oookay… It looks fine," I muttered before placing it back into my side deck. This card is a powerful draw card in this format.

But if I want to truly improve my deck to be ready against Shadow Raiders, and whatever bullshit that comes after that, this is nowhere near enough.

"I should go to the card shop and see what they got," I muttered before going to Drake to see if he wants to come, he was sitting with a dude called Nathan,

"Yo Drake, I'm gonna visit the Game Shop, wanna come? Same to you Nate?" I offered

"Nah man, we are chilling out by the schoolyard, but if you find a rare dragon send me a message,"

Wait did he just say… never mind, "Okay see you later," I waved a goodbye and walked towards the card shop,

-- A Few Minutes Later, Card Shop --

I walked into the Game Shop, and to my surprise, Chazz and his lackeys were there.

I never liked him in the show, and what I've seen so far hasn't really impressed me, he is just a fake ass Kaiba knockoff.

I tried to ignore them and walk past them but one of the lackeys pointed towards me. "Hey Raizou, isn't that the Slacker the one who you lost to," he said with a tint of mock in his voice,

"Ah- Ah- I don't care about that, he probably just got lucky," Raizou said as he looked very uncomfortable, he looked kinda scared.

Chazz and his other lackey laughed.

I was gonna ignore them but the Chazz had the genius idea to stand in my way, he looked me over, "You don't look so tough," he said

I just walked past him,"You can always challenge me yourself and find out just how tough I am. After all, as far as challengers are concerned, I accept all comers… Just like yo mamma."

He then grabbed me by the shoulder, "You," he growled

I raised an eyebrow at that "You might wanna remove that hand before I break it," I told him,

Then the Card Shop owner with a cosplay fetish spoke, "Boys! What is going on here?" she said as she walked out of the backdoor.

Chazz glared at me, "You got lucky, Slifer Slacker," he let go off my shoulder, "Let's go," he said and his lackeys followed him and they left the card shop,

"Hi Miss, my name is Konami Kujo, and I am sorry about that. It was just an Obelisk trying to bully a 'Slacker' who doesn't take his shit," I explained and she sighed

"That… tends to happen a lot around here," she admitted with a sigh before recovering "Name is Dorothy by the way. How can I help you today?"

"Well, I was wondering if I could take a look at your singles,"

"Singles? Of course you can," she said with a smile and brought out a single binder,

"Only one binder?" I ask, surprised that the only card shop in the island has a single binder of cards,

"Yes, unfortunately, unlike some Card Shops we do not trade cards, and only accept DP. So while we have most of the booster packs and structure decks, we do not have many singles," she said and I was pretty pissed at that information

"So what happens if we want to get a specific card?" I ask, not believing that the bloody duel academy does not have a way to buy cards,

"We have 10 affiliated Card Shops in the mainland that we can order singles for students, however, there is a 10 percent additional cost to the market price," she explained and I slowly nodded my head.

"So we can order any card?" I ask and she laughs at that

"Of course not, we can only place the order if those Card Shops have it in the stock," she clarifies "Or else everyone would have ordered cards like Dark Magician,"

"Right… That makes sense," I said with a sigh, "Can I first take a look at these cards first?" I ask and she nods her head,

I took a look at the binder, most of the cards were uninteresting to me. "Huh… Is that a Super Rare Solemn Judgment?" I muttered to no one in particular.

"Ow yes, that is one of the leftovers from last Promotion Exams Rare Cards," she said with a smile, "Not many students want to use half their life points to negate an effect," she explained and I nod my head, and take it out, only to see there was two of them,

Stupid anime duelists not seeing the worth of an OP card like this.

"How much are they?" I ask her

"Let me check," she said with a smile, and typed on her computer, a few seconds later she said "5,000 DP a piece," she said with a smile,

That's like 450 dollars a piece… The game is seriously expensive in this world. "Okay, so how does this work? How do I pay with DP?" I have been hoarding DP for two weeks, but I have no idea how to use it… God, I am dumb.

"You just read this QR code with your PDA, and then enter the amount you want to transfer," she said as she showed me a piece of paper with a QR code on it,

"And how do I do that?" I ask her

She smiled and showed it to me,

"Thanks, Miss Dorothy, I'll be ordering a few cards from the mainland can you give me a few minutes to write them down," I said with a smile,

"Sure," she said, returning my smile with one of her own,

I went to the closest table, sat down, took out a notebook, and a pencil, and started thinking about every card that could be useful to me.

After a few minutes later I collected my thoughts and wrote down all of them, once I was done I pass Miss Dorothy the list,

"Here Miss Dorothy, if you could order these cards it would be lovely," I told her

"Alright then, let me see if the Card Shops in the mainland have it," she said as she took the list and started typing,

"Hm… It seems none of the Card Shops have Gravekeeper's Spy and Metamorphosis at this moment. But that may change soon as they are available at a common rarity. They do not seem to have Night Assailant, Confiscation, Card of Sanctuary, Graceful Charity, Mirror Force and Jinzo either, but it is unlikely they will be available any time soon as those cards are quite rare and in demand. You are lucky there is a Lightning Vortex… And finally, I am assuming you saw Kaiser Duel," she gives me a knowing look "Unfortunately, Cyber Dragons are not that easy to get," she said with a small laugh in her voice,

"They are not? Then how does Zane have them?" I ask her with a raised eyebrow

"Headmaster of the Academy is also the Master of Cyber Style Dojo, you have to train under Cyber Style ojo for a year before you can get a Cyber Dragon, and that is only if you pass his test," she explained

What the fuck…

I mean, it is a VERY powerful card. In my old world, during the mid to late 2000s everyone was using Cyber Dragons in almost every meta deck.

And the test is probably as simple as beating him in a duel or something.

But spending a year training under someone in a weird dojo in God knows where, only to maybe get a chance to get them is insane. No wonder only Zane uses them.

"Well that sucks," I said and she flicked my forehead "OUCH"

"Young man should not swear," she said while shaking her head, "Would you like me to place an order for the rest of the cards,"D

"As long as they are below 20,000 DP. If it is above, order those at top first," I said while rubbing where she had hit,

"Alright… It seems the rest of them are all common cards, so you can order most of them, all the way up to and including Asura Priest." she said and I nod my head,

t then scan the QR code and pay 19,900 DP.

She then sent me a message, confirming my order, "Your order should arrive next Friday, when the new shipments arrive. Remember to bring your PDA to receive the cards," she said with a smile.

I thanked her before leaving. My new deck was coming along great.

-- A Few Hours Later, Around the Lake --

"1… 2… 3…" I was doing sit-ups when my PDA started to shake. Someone was calling me,

"Hey Wisteria, what's up?"

"I am fine, was just about to take a shower and wondered how you were doing?" she said and I got a boner, damn my imagination and teenage hormones.

"I am good, was working out," I said as I sat up,

"Heard you made fun of Princeton," she said with minor hostility on her voice, directed at the man in question.

"Did not really need to, his hair does it for me," I said with a shrug,

She laughed over the phone, "That it does,"

"I am assuming you are not a fan of the guy?" I ask with a small smirk on my face,

"Princeton Group is a direct competition of the Senrigan Group,"

"And Princeton Group is…" I ask, trying to remember what that was,

"A crummy corporation that Princeton's brothers manage, they have been way too ambitions for the past 5 years, taking questionable business choices, ever since their father retired," she explained

Are Chazz's parents alive? I thought his parents were dead, they were never mentioned in the show. Well to be fair nearly no Yugioh character's parents are shown in an anime, but you would expect them to show up and deal with their asinine sons bullying their youngest.

"Well, I should get going, girls are calling me to the Onsen," she said and my boner got slightly harder imagining 3 hot naked girls,

"Talk to you later," she said as she hang up,

It took me a couple of minutes of thinking of Syrus trying to answer a question for my boner to go away, and I could return to working out.
