Chapter 1 | YuGiOh GX and Dragonmaid
Waking up in a simple apartment I stretched and walked over to the washroom, splashing my face in water I suddenly woke up and while rubbing my eyes I mumbled.
''weird dream...'' with a sleepy tone and suppressed yawn.
Splashing my face once more I looked up into the mirror and...
''Ahhhh!!''
Shouted. Inside the mirror was a really handsome man with slightly messy pale blonde hair and almost glowing gold eyes.
The man looked like he had walked out of a fantasy book as the handsome antagonist that you love and hate at the same time... wait where was I going with this?
Quickly shaking my head I looked back at the mirror now a few steps away from me. Rising my hand the man in the mirror copied me, touching my face I took a small strand of hair and looked at it.
''Blonde.'' It was the same hair color as the guy in the mirror, belatedly I realized
''...It wasn't a dream.'' I said in shook, accustoming myself with the new me, I walked outside of the washroom.
Looking at the simple and neat room, it was a far call from the messy and customized look of my old room. Looking at the ceiling I reminisced about the strip lights I added to the top of the walls for no real purpose other than it looking cool.
Turning my head to the desk, I noticed a loaded duel disk with a deck already set. Walking over to it I examined it and tried to put it on, but as soon as I touched it it shocked me and I dropped it with a curse.
''Fuck!'' I yelled and turned back to the duel disk, which now had it's screen on.
Slowly reaching for it once again, I picked it up but it didn't shock me this time. Putting it onto my arm it felt light weight and comfortable, the duel disk seeming to recognize I put it on had it's screen changed.
As a menu appeared it listed different tabs...

Looking at the different tabs, I decided to click on [Mail] first. Doing so, the screen changed...

Only one item was on the tab, clicking it a letter instantly appeared from mid air, desperately catching it I breathed a sigh of relief.
Opening it I read through the letter and looked back at the Duel Disk on my hand with surprised eyes. The letter said...
Dear, Illumi Tanaka.
I've sent you to the world of YuGiOh GX with a deck. I've also arranged you with the apartment you'll wake up in, booked for a week and a letter of acceptance from Duel Academy.
The Duel Disk, you received is your item, you don't have to worry about anyone stealing it as it's soul bound and will shock anyone who takes it with malicious intent or agents your best interests. On top of that it has an in built function storing your completed decks and other cards received from the [Card Pack Shop], also it's connected to your phone so it can receive messages and notifications. Your Duel Disk also has a shop feature, from which you can buy packs, however you'll unlock packs as you go along and you only receive 3 cards per pack, but have higher chances of getting rarer cards. To buy packs you have to spend DP, which can be converted from any currency or used the opposite way around. As an added bonus I also made an extra function, which rewards you for completing certain tasks.
You should also have your ability which is a heavily heightened Duel Spirit Affinity. It'll allow you, to a limited degree, use the ability of your bonded spirits. Not all cards have spirits but the ones I gave you do, or a singular copy of the card does.
Finally your in GX so no Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, Link and all those other stuff. Your first spirit is someone who I believe can help you adapt and support you.
P.S. I chose your name from HxH, since you liked HxH from your memories.
P.P.S All Cards from the system are treated as fair an extremally rare cards, no one will know about them but no one will doubt them. They will also automatically gain a history of how you obtained them.

The letter basically informed me I was in GX, the functions of the duel disk, my spirit affinity, and that I was heading to Duel Academy soon. On a side note I'd learned my name was Illumi.
Looking at the pre-loaded deck inside the duel disk I thought it was the deck I asked for and slowly reached for it. It felt some how... odd, like it was calling to me and I felt at ease being near it.
Touching the first card I excitedly wondered what card it would be and excitedly drew it with my eyes closed. Slowly turning over the card and peaking through my eyes I saw a purple card, it seemed that the deck wasn't split into the extra deck.
Noticing the shine of the card, I avoided looking at the name and picture and looked at it's Attack and Defense.

The Attack was really high for a GX era card and I excitedly turned to look at the image. Surprisingly their was a maid with horns and a tail on the card, realizing what deck it was I turned to the cards name.

''It's a Dragonmaid Deck!?'' Although I knew about them, I had never played the deck, although I loved YuGiOh as a kid, I wasn't into the new stuff and just enjoyed it sometimes.
However, what I found the most confused about was that this deck came out years after YuGiOh GX ended. Well I guess he was god, so he can do what he wants.
Deciding on the topic at hand, I took out the deck and read through my cards, interestingly enough I had multiple copies of some cards, the 3 [House Dragonmaid]s in my extra deck being an example.
Reading through the card affects I smiled, although the deck was incomplete, it was still a really good deck, it even had it's own fusion card, [Dragonmaid Changeover]. Looking through the deck, I decided to go find some filler cards first to complete my deck.
But before that, I needed to check the acceptance letter for Duel Academy. Reading it, it stated that I had passed the written exam, first in my grade and I was taking the practical test in 5 days.
With not that much time left, I decided to head out fix up my deck and get some practice in with my new deck.
