Chapter 1

[You Have Died.]

I stared at the screen in front of me with an expressionless face… Part of me wanted this to be a dream, but I was pretty sure I read somewhere about how you couldn't read in dreams… So, I was left to conclude that this was real.

I died in that car accident.

I let out a sad sigh, rubbing my eyes a bit… I didn't know why I still had my body when I was dead, but I would just have to deal with it.

Suddenly, the screen changed.

[Calculating Positive Karma V Negative Karma… Positive Karma wins. Congratulations, you have qualified for reincarnation (with memories.)]

I blinked as I read that, and I felt some relief… Reincarnating was fine by me, so was keeping my memories… But I had read about things like this far too much.

So… What was the caveat?

[Randomly allocating world for reincarnation…]

I instantly tensed up and crossed my fingers… Not a dangerous Shounen world, not a dangerous Shounen world! I REALLY didn't wanna end up somewhere like Naruto or Dragon Ball Z or something!

[Congratulations, 'Yu-Gi-Oh' has been selected.]

I took a deep breath… That was…Okay? I mean, the fate of the world resided on Children's Card Games… So, I wasn't going to hold my breath on this being fun. But hey, holograms… I'd take what I could get.

[Randomly assigning skills to the player…]

[You have received the Skill – Spirit Affinity (Divine).]

[You have received the Skill – Card Creation (Legendary).]

[You have received the Perk – Dark Signer (Legendary).]

I stared blankly at the skills I'd received, mentally going through them one by one…

First, Spirit Affinity was self-explanatory to an extent… I'd probably be able to see and bond with Duel Spirits very easily, or they would be incredibly favourable towards me… Maybe even manifesting them in real life, something like that.

Card Creation was self-explanatory as well, it was pretty much a staple in the Yu-GI-Oh protagonist handbook… Being able to create bullshit when you most needed it… Don't fucking tell me otherwise, Yuma fucking outright states that it happens. 'A truly amazing duellist can even generate the very cards they draw.'

Dark Signer… Fuck. This was both good and also really bad. Good because I had limited plot armour. Bad because this meant I was heading to 5D's, and I did not wanna fucking throw down against god damned Yusei Fudo… Or the other signers.

But alas, now I had to deal with it.

[You have received Blank Card (Legendary) x 10.]

[You have received Blank Card (Epic) x 50.]

[More blank cards can be received through various means.]

I took a breath… Right, I could easily guess what the purpose of blank cards were. They were likely a facet in card creation, where they acted as the catalyst to create cards for me. Though I would like if it explained the various means to me, I guess it couldn't be that simple…

As for the rankings… I assumed that just limited how much 'power' can be in a certain card at a time. Legendary were probably monsters like Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes and so on… Epic were probably monsters that were more in line with the likes of Summoned Skull and Gaia the Fierce Knight.

[You will be randomly assigned an appearance, background, and name. When you arrive, you will receive the memories of your new life at the point you arrive.]

[Are you satisfied with this?]

Y/N

I sighed… I really did not want to risk hitting no and then being told 'okay, fuck you then,' or something like that… So, I hit 'Y.' This was my life, I'd just have to figure something out.

[Please Rate us 5 Stars upon your next death!]

… Wait what-

And then my world went white.

.

.

.

I sat up in my bed, eyes widening as I came into consciousness… Finally, I had regained my memories of my past life.

I slowly climbed out of bed and walked over to the mirror, staring at myself. With the benefit of my memories finally returning to my body, I now knew that my appearance was just like that of Adam from Records of Ragnarok.

I even had his name… Adam Yule.

Yu.

It was a name synonymous with every Yu-Gi-Oh Protagonist. The 'Yu' was almost like screaming 'I'm the protagonist.' Yugi Moto, Judai Yuuki, Yusei Fudo, Yuma Tsukumo, Yuya Sakaki, Yusaku Fujiki, Yuga Ohdo… The 'Yu' was a symbol of the protagonist.

I took a breath and shook my head… I looked down at my arm and slowly lifted up my sleeve at the mark upon it… And I frowned.

As far as I was aware, the Earthbound Gods- or Earthbound Immortals in the English Dub- were supposed to be based on the Nazca Lines…

But I was fairly certain that there wasn't any bear among the Nazca Lines.

And yet, there it was. A mark in the shape of a bear was present on my arm… I'd had it since birth, as a matter of fact, the people at the orphanage had been very confused about it too.

I dropped my sleeve and shook my head, deciding I would figure that out later. For now, I needed to think on some major discrepancies in my memories…

First, there was no Duellist Kingdom, nor Battle City, and yet Duel Disks were already a thing… On top of that, Yugi and Kaiba were both women. As if that weren't enough, regular tournaments took place all over the world for all ages, and I recognised several people from them in my memories… But as girls. Jaden, Yusei, Jack, Yuma… For some reason, it was like most of the characters I knew had been turned into women and were pretty famous Duellists in the U-18 Circuit.

Honestly, far from being excited, it made me a bit uncomfortable…

On top of that, yeah, I wasn't in 5D's! I thought I would be in 5D's given I was a Dark Signer, but instead this almost seemed like some kind of mixed world, with so many things missing… No satellite area, no Duellist Kingdom… And yet I had the memories of Number Monsters being slightly famous for a time too!

I took a moment to calm down… Getting riled up would do nothing, for now I needed to focus.

I walked over to my desk in my small apartment, and opened my drawer, pulling out a deck of cards…

They were blank.

I took them apart one by one, but each of them was blank, I couldn't see any sort of picture on them… Until I reached the end, and my eyes widened.

Earthbound God Tezcatlipoca

10 Star – DARK – Beast/Effect

While this card is face-up on the field, 'Earthbound God' monsters cannot be summoned. If there is no face-up Field Spell card on the field, the following effects are negated, and this card is destroyed during the End Phase:

• This card can attack your opponent directly.

• This card cannot be attacked by your opponent's monsters.

• This card is unaffected by your opponent's Spell/Trap Cards.

• During the End Phase, if this card was sent to the Graveyard or banished while on the field: Special Summon this card.

3000/2500

… This was my Earthbound God monster. Tezcatlipoca… That was a damned powerful effect too, allowing it to resurrect endlessly… Its effect was also worded quite evilly. Basically, if it was on the field when it was sent to the Graveyard or banished, even if the opponent then used Bottomless Trap Hole, it would still revive next End Phase.

The only way to stop this card was to negate its summoning… Granted, there were plenty of opportunities to do that. Still, this was an incredibly powerful card.

I set the card down slowly, before I looked at the blank cards…

There were 60 cards here… The 'Legendary' Blank Cards were separated from the rest, but they also had a gleam to them that the Epic Cards did not, making it easy to tell which was which.

I grabbed one of the Legendary Cards and took a seat, staring at it in thought.

The most important thing at the moment was creating my Deck's Headliner, probably my 'main' Duel Spirit that I would be communicating with…

Unbidden, my mind couldn't help thinking back to one particular Duel Spirit that was rather famous. One that Yugi had made famous and that had simultaneously caused youngsters all around the world to start experiencing puberty…

The Dark Magician Girl.

My first childhood crush when I saw her, my love for the Duel Spirit never faded away, especially after the final arc…

However, what I needed wasn't a goody two-shoes who would motivate me to do the right thing… After all, weren't there multiple Dark Magicians? Who was to say there were not multiple Dark Magician Girls? Some of them studying truly foul magic with little morals…

That was the kind of Dark Magician Girl I needed on my side.

I suddenly snapped out of it as I noticed the card in my hand glowing, and my eyes widened as I saw colour bleed onto the card… What I saw was the Dark Magician Girl, but not as I recalled her from the show or the games.

Her skin was dark, with silver hair and crimson eyes, a wicked little smile on her face. Her chest was bigger than I recalled and was honestly getting into porn territory, with her clothes and hat being crimson red with golden lining as opposed to the usual blue and pink. Her sceptre was black and gold, and she was surrounded by darkness with a red magic circle behind her, posed in a very suggestive way.

The name printed on the card was 'Dark Magician Girl.' The level, attack, defence, effects, everything was the same… But this was clearly a very different Dark Magician Girl than Mana.

She was… Well… Gorgeous, and almost exactly how I'd envisioned her… A Dark Magician Girl who wasn't a goodie two shoes, one who fully dedicated herself to the darker ways of Magic, who wasn't concerned about the lives of others… Only her ambitions.

I stared at the card and then chuckled as I climbed out of bed, making my way back over to my cards.

"Well…" I said aloud with a wry smile. "Since I've already made one card… It would be a waste to not go all out…" I stretched slowly while cracking my neck. "Dark Magicians are the name of the game…" I smiled widely. "I have a week until Duel Academy's Entrance Exam… So, I'd better get to work."

This was my second chance at life, so I was going to do my best to have fun.
