26 Summoning

I walked out of father's office shortly after our talk.

My heart is beating so fast. Io is actually my first demon!

I'm so lucky. But I'm curious why Io didn't possess me. I'm just a fragile toddler, he could've easily possessed my body.

"Io," I mumbled.

Nothing.

Hm, father told me it's not going to be easy.

"Io,"

Still nothing. I pouted. Dang, that sly demon.

Suddenly my father's words came across my mind. Provoke. I need to provoke my demons. In the middle of the empty hall, I stopped. I looked around to make sure the hall is empty, then grinned.

"Ah Ah, I'm confused. You're only a mere demon who just floating around aimlessly with nothing good to do. What's the point on maintaining your pride?"

"Hm, my little master sure is talkative,"

"!"

I turned around with a loud gasp.

There he is! Io is floating in front of me with his arms crossed. He huffed and played with a strand of his hair using his index finger, twirling them.

"Woah, father is right," I mumbled.

"Father? Oh, Rothe," Io smirked. "He's a powerful Coordinator. But I'm not interested in submitting to him,"

"Why?" I raised one of my eyebrows.

Io leaned over closer, then push his index finger to my forehead.

It's ice cold.

"Strong," He whispered. "I only submit to Balam,"

"Ba... lam?"

Io's smirk just grew even more incomprehensible.

"Well, you're little for now. Prove to me your strength, and I am willing to be your sword and shield until you die," After saying that, he suddenly disappeared.

... I knew I should've named him 'Weirdo.'

Outside the mansion, Edgar appeared from among the bushes. He wiped away the leaves, dirt, and bugs from his body.

"Ugh, patrolling at night sucks," He mumbled to himself.

"You're done?"

Juno appeared out of nowhere in front of Edgar. Edgar nodded his head, then lazily put his hands behind his head.

"Nothing going on on the west area, or east,"

"Same as north and south," Juno mumbled.

"Then we should just relax. Come on, I'm starving!" Edgar wrapped his arm around Juno and dragged him to the back door.

"You stink," Juno said.

"This is the smell of a responsible adult, Juno,"

"You're younger than me,"

"Only a year difference,"

"... I can't understand your logic,"

"Good,"

After finished their normal squabble, the two of them walked to the back door.

"..."

But he didn't notice, that there's someone watching him.

Amanda, she's having a stroll outside and found a crumpled paper on the ground. It's from Edgar's pockets. Amanda walked over to it and grabbed the paper.

She read it carefully, and quietly.

"... Hoho," A menacing smile appeared on her face. The smile is eerie. She slowly crumpled the paper with her hands, then hide it under her sleeves.

She casually walked to the other side of the entrance, still having the eerie smile on her face.

"I see," She whispered.
