Chapter 15

Peter POV

"I have a business deal with several Kroloteans in the next two days and I would like some decent protection given that Rimbor isn't the ideal place conduct business without a form of defense," said Vandal Savage.

I was nodding at him but my mind was racing, this guy is on my list of the most dangerous people on Earth in the DC universe.

He is literally a combination of Lex Luthor and Ra's Al Ghul but in my opinion this guy has the forward thinking of Luthor and the ancient wisdom of Ra's added to his metahuman physical enhacements and immortality. Better yet, this guy is extremely old, I mean he was a caveman, you can't really quantify the number of resources he has till date.

So, all in all I rate Vandal Savage as the most dangerous man on Earth but the question is do I want to do business with him.

"I happened to see your group's altercation with that Almercian fugitive, although there is still much to be desired from your performance, I believe your group is adequate enough for this job," said Savage.

I looked at him not giving any emotion to his somewhat cocky tone, he equally looks at me trying to gauge my reaction and just observe me.

I begin to speak "Mr. Savage, before I left Earth, I wasn't aware that NASA had perfected and started commissioning intergalactic travel"

My tone sounding sarcastic to which he smirks a little as I continue, "Although due to my experience, I don't really like referring to people as heroes or villains but given the universe we live in, I have no choice but to refer to some as such"

I look seriously at him without my previous playful tone, I begin " I know you are a supervillain of some sort on Earth, plus I'm pretty sure you're a meta-human looking at your somewhat abnormal physique. So, I'll ask you, what do you really want from me Vandal Savage?"

He looks at me sharply and I don't back down from his glare. After a few seconds of our stare off, Vandal lets out a sigh and begins speaking, "There are no such things as heroes and villains, just interests and power and I'm sure deep down you agree with me on that"

I just keep staring at him as he goes on

"My interests align with the Earth as a whole, you of all people have seen the threat of extraterrestrials. The Appellaxian invasion, although it was an idiotic undertaking, it has attracted some unwanted attention to Earth. Having a contract with a relatively powerful meta-human would benefit my interests"

"Except I'm not powerful" I replied without shame.

"Yet. You aren't significantly powerful yet, but that's all due to age" Vandal said as he looked at me with scrutinizing eyes.

He sighed "I know you can't and probably will not trust me, which even raises your value in my eyes because it tells me you are not a fool, but you have to look out for your own benefits and interests "

Truth be told he's right, and better yet Vandal Savage is not like those irrational rejects in Gotham. He plays the long game, perks of immortality I suppose but the bottom-line is that so far, his plans don't threaten me or my companions and don't lead to an extinction level crisis, I don't mind having a business relationship with him.

Make no mistake, I don't trust him but I don't trust Kuen either and he's a reliable handler so I have to see what benefits I can get from Vandal Savage.

"What's the pay? That's the most important factor to make me accept this job"

Vandal smirked "Kuen has informed me that you are in need of materials both to try and make a ship and to make armor for yourself, I have a rare alloy from earth, although it's not on the level of n-th metal, it's still near indestructible"

My eyes widened, as I knew which metal, he was talking about.

As if to answer my guess he continued

"Promethium, from your look it seems that you've at least heard about it. For the job I'll pay you a hundred tons of promethium"

Promethium is like this universe's version of adamantium or maybe lesser as I don't think it's as indestructible as nth metal but it's still a near indestructible alloy, it would help me greatly in my endeavors to upgrade my ship and weapons.

I look at Vandal not knowing with he is thinking as he maintains his straight face and after I finished weighing my options I reply.

"I accept the job but I don't just want the promethium, I want knowledge from Earth ranging from history, humanities, literature but mainly biochemistry, physics and engineering, all the way to post graduate level as I have been out of touch with my human education"

"That can easily be arranged, I'm quite impressed by your choice of additional payment especially considering your age" Vandal replied

"I just don't want to be behind on my human education" I shrugged nonchalantly but deep down I am serious about this.

Most aliens underestimate human technology and a good amount of them are right to, but the problem is that they completely underestimate all human technology when there are some that are seriously advanced.

From my memories, I remember watching the Justice Society documentary back on Earth, so I already know Red Tornado existed or rather still exists.

An advanced Android with powers like that is rare even on some technological advanced planets, and it was built in the 40s plus I'm pretty sure there are people like Toyman and Dr. I've back on Earth who Engineering geniuses.

So, I won't underestimate human technology like aliens, I have to keep up to date with Earth's advanced technology and see if I can use or improve some of them.

"I look forward to working with you child" Vandal said with his arm outstretched

" Don't call me child I have name which I'm pretty sure you know Mr. Savage" I replied while stretching my hand to shake his

"Very well young Shepard, it is a pleasure to be doing business with you" Vandal replies as he shakes my hand with a smirk.
