Chapter 1

Described as an assassin working for the government, a womanizing vampire and a mafia seated in stacks of cash. Adam the invisible CEO.

And truth be told I doubt he exists, since I received a job offer a few months ago I haven't seen him in any meetings or on any team bonding trips. His perfume company is one of the worlds biggest brands but only because of his secret identity, some of these bottles smell like water and spice, mixed with dirt...i guess a brand is a brand.

A recent marketing graduate forced to work as a secretary for the sake of experience…now I'm stuck running errands and handing in files to a ghost. It's strange how none of this was mentioned in my job description. The most baffling thing about all of this is all these vampire mafia rumours floating around the office and media get worse by the day.

They treat him like a movie trailer, with millions of billboards and radio stations hyping up his mystery, it gives me more reason to not like him or this job. His identity is this business marketing strategy or so if like to convince my overthinking self with, smart but annoying.

"Your coffee, my lady." He said placing it onto my table

Why this guy needed two secretaries I don't know. "thank you, dear Ayaan," I said grabbing the cup

Ayaan was Adams childhood friend, partner and you guessed it…personal assistant.

"what's your name again, Arab."

"for the last time it's Ara, don't you have any work to do?" I asked annoyed.

"I'm on my way out," he said leaving

My biggest peeve is when people get my 3 lettered name wrong. Especially this guy since I've been working with him for almost a month now. After being dragged by our colleagues for some of his gossips, I took the coffee over to his Adams office, with the door shut through my face at my arrival.

the coffee spilling all over me I kicked the trash can injuring myself before continuing my office maid duties, yes this job made me feel like I was a maid.

after my overtime shift, I took a taxi home and managed to bump into some trouble, I wouldn't have…if I was allowed to leave work early. Traffic and a bomb alert nearby. Nothing unusual in this city, people just like attention. I mean why bomb random people then claim that they stole your candy. I climbed out of the taxi tying my hair up as I walked towards the commotion, now…I know what your thinking I wasn't trying to kill myself, I was just checking if it was a real bomb this time.

A video filled up the screens around the area as this random person demanded money or we die. Imagine trading paper for a life. I sighed, before walking around the distressed area, everyone screaming and running as if that was going to save them when suddenly I fell towards the ground before being jerked up into the air.

Who knew that death was this quick and painless I didn't even hear the sounds of the explosion happen. I opened my eyes and found myself on top, of one of the buildings with a rescue helicopter above my head. He approached me, before rushing up with the bomb. I couldn't see his face.

I couldn't stop thinking about the way he turned towards me with his concerned gaze before disappearing with the birds. The event made it to the news, the whole world was talking about it. For how long though? After all, it's only important if it benefits them.

The worst part is that there has been a war between the mafias and government agents for years. An internal war that got my entire family killed. It's happened so many times that I no longer fear death, nor do I know who the bad or good guys are. The next day as I made my way to work I was called to his office, it was the first time in years or even centuries since his done that. He didn't even allow Ayaan inside of his office at this point.

I stepped in, afraid. Placing the document onto his desk before trying to tiptoe my way out. I was unsuccessful, the door shut before I was pulled towards the other side of the guard that kept his face a secret.

It was him…a vampire, mafia, spy whatever. Dreamy…or maybe I was drowned by the fact that I was given such an honour, after pulling myself away I cleared my throat looking away as I apologised. He turned my face around smiling.

"Am I that scary," he asked as he laughed

" of course not, sir," I said looking towards him trying not to make my butterflies look too obvious.

"Marry me…" he said taking out a ring.

"What…" I said turning towards him flushed

He took the ring out of the box, " I said marry me…Im not good at dating."

"ive heard…"

"you probably heard all sorts of things about me. Don't you want a perfect life away from all the drama and sweating for your cash, I'll take care of you, " he said placing the ring into my hand

"I'm very grateful for the offer…flattered as well, but I just graduated and I'm not ready to take care of a supposed to be ghost."

"interesting," he said turning away, "people would die for the opportunity…"

"not me," I replied placing the ring on his desk, "im good."

I stormed out of the office shivering. I could lose my job after this or might become one of his lunches, he does look like he has a thing for blood.

"He let you in, "Ayan said flicking my forehead, " did he harras you?" he asked with a stern face before bursting into laughter, " he isn't like that…I bet he didn't."

"haha, he asked me to marry him," I said closing a folder before punching it, " I said no."

"good," he said smiling, " Now he can chase after you."

"very incorrect dear comrade, I prefer not to be chased. After all, you male species are the reason for the world's mess."

"what was that?"

"Nothing," I said tossing files into his arms, " I'm done for today, you do these."

What a crazy week this has been. Interesting to. Another commotion on the main road, this time…it was a fight between the mafias. Or I think it was, or at least it was what I saw before being dragged out of my car into the crowd. Yay for me.
