Fear of the unknown {D.E.S 3}

Gideon yawned on his way to his practical class.

He had tears at the corner of his eyes and looked tired and hopeless.

†*******************†

~yaaaaawns~

How come today turns out to be such a drag? I would have been busy impressing god by now if that old man didn't meddle.

And here I am, in a school, another reason that makes me feel like a failure.

You wanna know why?

it's because I am the worst student the school has to offer

Yes, I'm hopeless, right? I've failed all my mock tests with a "0" not getting even one in any of the subjects.

And also, I'm freaking tired of these students staring at me.

It turns out that the camera captured everything that happened in the train station and now, I suddenly turned into a celebrity.

Well, they have already given me the name "Fearless."

That's because the damned news broadcaster stressed the fact that I was smiling while facing death, and they called that "creepy".

Little do they know that I was preparing to finally have a peaceful afterlife.

And also, it turns out that the old man who saved me was infamous too.

He is one of the few people to create martial arts, not just any martial arts, but one of the strongest of them all.

He was also a pretty talented craftsman. Now I understand why he wanted to study my necklace.

Honestly speaking, I do know that there's something off about this necklace too, but... whatever it's just a necklace right?

I would have sold it, but it might help as a clue to regaining my lost memory.

Anyways, I'm on my way to creative arts practical class.

And ladies and gentlemen, that's where I suck.

Yeah, I know I suck at everything, but this, my dear is the "suckest of all sucks" if there's anything like that.

I can't draw, hell, I can bearly draw a human made of lines and circles, you know, the one everyone knows how to draw, even as kids.

But do not fret my dear, it's art, and there's never a mistake in art.

Mistakes just make your work look more beautiful, or so I thought before drawing a dog with feather tails, chicken legs, and a crocodile's mouth.

My teacher made me go meet the psychologist, I was questioned on what gave me such an inspiration and I had no answer.

I barely escaped being charged to a psychiatric hospital.

Walking into the hall, I took my seat.

And waited quietly while others chatted amongst themselves.

Luckily, my self-acclaimed best friend isn't in school.

I can finally rest. I've been trying to avoid everyone, but it seems he's the only one that doesn't know how to read between the lines

A few minutes later, the teacher entered. He is a... "she"

I mean... our teacher is a woman but can easily be confused for a man.

She had beards although not much, muscles, and a muscular square-shaped face.

And to top it off, she had a thick voice and also taught creative arts which was more of a male teacher's subject than a female.

"Yo, peeps! What's up!" The teacher shouted in greeting

"Cool teach" The students chorused

*Crazy teacher with crazy students*

Thinking that I rolled my eyes.

†*********************†

Gideon rolled his eyes at the class' greeting

Unbeknownst to him, the teacher has a kin sight, she caught him rolling his eyes and was pissed

"Yo! G, did you just roll your eyes at me?" She asked him.

"No, I didn't... I–I mean I did, but it wasn't for you, I rolled my eyes at what I was thinking"

Gideon lied through his teeth.

*Nice half-lie me, way to go. Besides, why does she keep on calling me "G" I know my name starts with the letter G but men, that's so not cool*

"Get down here G, you'll start today's practical" She ordered

Gideon lazily stood up and walked down to her

"Now class, today we're gonna focus on imaginative painting.

That is; you'll have to draw what you imagine, it may or may not be in existence, but something you know you'll explain.

Now then, why don't you start with G?" She urges Gideon to start after her little explanation.

Gideon took the red paintbrush and started doing magic with his painting wand on a white paint board.

After about three minutes, he turned his painting board for the class to see what he had drawn, they were all wowed for a moment before busting into laughter.

Gideon was confused as to why they were laughing at his hard work, he even hard to stick out his tongue to one side of his mouth while being extremely careful.

He looked at his artwork and he was proud, no matter what the others say or do, he had done what he had worked hard for.

After two weeks of practice, he was finally able to draw a human with lines and a perfect circle as head, this human my dear, is genderless.

He was excited but on the contrary, the teacher was angry.

"Do you think we're here to joke? Draw something more impressive or you're getting an automatic "F" in your next test."

". . ."

Gideon was speechless, he did not have a good imagination and now he's asked to give what he doesn't have.

*Ok, how about that? Can I draw it?"

He thought before drawing something, this time even more serious and his focus was absolute.

"What's he gonna draw now? A girl?"

"Hahahahahahah!"

The class made fun of him

After he was drawn, he refused to show it to the class as he seemed lost in his artwork.

"If you're done show it to class G!" the teacher yelled, but Gideon hesitated

"Why is he delaying, is he afraid of showing us his grandma?!"

"That's a good one!"

"hahaha"

The class mocked him again while laughter echoed across the hall.

Gideon decided to show his drawing to them, and the whole laughter died down immediately, as Gideon showed them his drawing.

~ Utter Silence ~

A pin-drop silence swept across the hall, as soon as they saw his drawing.

It was as if they were in a graveyard, the immediate silence that followed could send a chill down someone's spine.

The horrific look on the student's faces made it seem as if Gideon had shown them the most horrific thing in the whole world.

The teacher too was a victim, fear was written all over her face.

Fear of the unknown.

But in reality, what Gideon had shown to them, was... a symbol.

Yes

A symbol that has constantly appeared in his dreams for two years now.

It's a unique symbol that is made up of two intertwined hearts with an infinity sign crossing it in the middle, and some other complicated design.

It gave off a pressure-inducing fear in the students and teachers equally.

The red paint Gideon used was starting to roll down the symbol, making it look like thick blood used for drawing.

The symbol dimly glowed before dying down adding to its mystery.

In this world, magic does not exist, the only thing that exists is martial arts, so why? Why would a plain drawing of a symbol glow?

It all doesn't make sense, it's against the rules of this world.

It was scary and mysterious.

*If magic does exist, then this is going to be "blood magic", am I safe?" That was what most students thought.

A few minutes after Gideon took off the drawing and tore it, everything returned to not exactly normal, because the students who seemed in high spirits were now too calm for comfort.

Gideon felt a sense of guilt but was also part of those who wondered

"What is that symbol?"

But his question was way more than just that, his question was:

"Why does such a mysterious symbol appear in my dreams? More importantly,

Who am I?"

"Ugh..."

I stretched myself while grunting.

Today is a drdragThe classes wherever exhausting.

Everyone seemed to have forgotten what transpired in the art practical hall.

They are now as lively as before, but that doesn't change my question

"What is that symbol?"

Thank goodness I was asked to go without explaining, what would I have told them?

Shaking my head I decided to let the thoughts drown, I'll figure it all out once I figure out who I am first.

Putting my hand in my pocket while I walk I felt a paper in there and took it out to see.

Seeing an address, I wondered whose it was, but after some seconds, I remembered I was owing the old man a favor.

"Maybe the old man will be able to know what my necklace is made of and tell me who I am.

Let's see what he has to offer "

I said before heading towards the address in the paper. Gideon yawned on his way to his practical class.

He had tears at the corner of his eyes and looked tired and hopeless.
