Nightmare

I woke up to a dark room thinking it was still nighttime, I checked my phone saying it was 2:00am, I then reached over and petted Aleu until I felt no weight on top of me, I lean up and Aleu was gone.

I immediately got off the couch and was about to search for her, that is until I heard someone crying, I then walked into the hallway where I found Aleu crying in the same position like how I found her when we first met. I was about to approach her but how would my appearance here, at what she probably thought was her private place, not come off as totally creepy?

She looked like she wanted time to herself, but her actions screamed desperately for my aid. I couldn't just stand there like a creep, and watch her cry now, could I?

Hesitantly, I walked over to her as quietly as I could be, and sat down beside her, I then took my arm, and wrapped it around her. She turns to look at me frightened as she jumps away from me

Aleu: Who are you! *growls*

Me: Calm down Aleu! Its me Callum!

She then began to calm down and walk towards me

Aleu: don't do that, please

Me: I'm sorry okay, I didn't mean to scare you

Aleu inhales and exhales softly

Aleu: It's fine, I forgive you

Me: Thank you

Without hesitation I asked her

Me: What are you doing out here in the hallway?

Aleu: I just needed some time alone

Me: Why?

Aleu: Because I had a nightmare *sniff*

She then sat down and looked down at the ground wiping her nose with her paw

Me: What about?

Aleu: The life I had on the streets... ever since I was with my brothers and sisters waiting for new owners, and we were so delighted that we were finally being adopted... well some of us, every one of my brothers and sisters was given a home, except me, and ever since then I've been on the streets as a so called stray dog wolf, people have always been against me treating me like garbage all because they think I'm a wild animal

Me: Wha... why?

Aleu: Because they think I'm *sniff* a wolf

I sat there in silence thinking about what to say, what to think, what to do in something like this. As I heard the sniffling of Aleu as she was avoiding eye contact, I then moved over to comfort her.

Aleu: I'm sorry, You must think I'm a beast

Me: No, I don't, Aleu. If anything, now I can only think more of you...

I then put my hand on her cheek and turned head to look at me

Me: Aleu, you're the kindest, sweetest, prettiest, most faithful creature I know.

Me: You've always kept a chipper attitude, even when you were at your lowest, and now...?

I then chuckled warmly as I brushed her cheek with a hand as she placed her paw on my hand

Me: After knowing all you went through, all you've done, all you've fought... how could I not think more of you? You've been dragged through the worst of the worst that fate could throw at you, and in the end you fought off your own prejudice and hatred, and turned yourself around. going from a pretty wolf dog with a heart of stone to a beautiful wolf dog with a heart of gold! What more could one person ask from another?

Aleu then folded her ears and looked at me with a smile, she then hugged me with her paws as she stammers

Aleu: T-t-thank you

Me: Truth is Truth, Aleu. I'm just stating the facts.

After spending the next few minutes hugging each other, we both decide it's time for us to head to bed

Wordlessly, we each stand up, and give a meaningful nod to each other. My heart is racing as she purposefully makes prolonged eye contact, giving Me the cutest smile I've ever seen. We then reached my bedroom and I hopped under the covers and Aleu jumped onto the bed, walked in circles and laid down.

Me: Goodnight Aleu

As she fell asleep I leaned in and gave her a kiss on her forehead, I saw her smile in her sleep which made me feel happy, I laid down and fell asleep.
