23 Chapter 23

After dinner was over Jordan volunteered to clean the dishes. Instead of arguing with him, I took my coffee and went and sat on the porch swing. I curled my feet underneath me and just listened to the sounds of the ocean as it blended into the noise from the forest to create the most beautiful music I had ever heard.

“You know you never answered my question.”

I screeched and almost fell off the swing, cursing as I righted myself and looked over my shoulder to find Jack a foot away from me with his hand outstretched like he was going to catch me if I fell.

"Damn it, Lizzie, you need to be more careful!" he growled at me with a glare.

I flushed in embarrassment and glared back at him with as much heat as I could muster, trying to pretend he couldn't see how red I was turning.

“How long have you been there?” I asked accusingly.
