CHAPTER 10(XAVIER)
Time flew by fast and before Emma knew it, it was already the closing hour...
Daniel knocked and came into the office
"oh Miss Emerald, you're still here work hours have ended" Daniel said looking at Emma
Emma looked up with teary eyes,
"Really?" she yawned and looked at her wristwatch
"yes Miss Emma" Daniel replied
"oh, work hours have ended," Emma said tiredly and picked up her bag to go and before she could leave, she heard the voice which had put her in that nightmare
"Miss Jones" Alex called out
"yes boss" Emma replied
"don't tell me that you're planning to leave your desk that untidy.... don't forget I'm in this office too," Alex said
It took only God's grace for Emma not to roll on the floor and start crying
She looked at the mean boss who put her in this situation and didn't even bother to tell her that working hours were over
She walked to her desk and began to tidy up
Daniel who was still standing there, looked at the tired girl and sighed sadly
'I'm sorry Miss Emma but this is what you have to go through working under a cold man like Mr Alex Smith' Daniel mused
"what are you looking at Daniel it seems like you have nothing to do" Alex said
"I'm sorry boss," Daniel said
Emma finished tidying up her desk and left
Alex's phone which was lying on his desk rang and he picked it up
"Bro I'm back.... do you mind uhm picking me up from the airport" the person speaking on the phone said
"why didn't you ask, Gift or Treasure to pick you up," Alex said
" do you think that you would be the first person I'd call?..... I called them but they all said that they were busy with one thing or the other so they didn't have my time, Light told me that she would pick me up but it turned out that she was just playing a trick to get her revenge on me for ruining her date with a jerk " the person replied
"I'm busy... I don't have time to pick you up" Alex said sternly
"come on bro, you can ask Daniel to pick me up and the airport is close to the company" The man pleaded
"Daniel is busy... Find your way back home" Alex said and hung up the phone
A masked man stood in the middle of the airport looking dejected
"oh well, I'm all alone now I just have to find my way back home or hail a taxi," The man said as he walked

Emma got to the parking lot and entered her car... She rested her head on the headrest
"why is that guy so heartless, making me do a job meant for 20 people my head ached so badly right now " Emma complained
"well, who do I expect, working in the highest-ranked jewellery company, Just as they say, Emerald Jones, there is no free lunch... I'll just buy drugs on my way home" Emma said and drove off

Xavier waited for a taxi for a long time but none came so he decided to walk... Maybe he would get help on the way
"why is this happening to me, I'm so tired right now," Xavier said sitting on his luggage with his head down when he looked up, he saw a car driving towards him, he stood up immediately to stop the car

Emma, who just bought her drugs and was driving home saw a masked man with luggage by his side waving at her car...
"it seems like he came from the airport," Emma said to herself and she stopped in front of the man
When she opened her car window the man seemed dazed for a few seconds but came back to his senses afterwards
"hey please can you give me a ride, I just came back and I have no one to pick me up," Ray said
'Awwn poor man.... I thought his family were supposed to be the ones to welcome him back to the country but look, he is stranded in the middle of the road..... It won't hurt to help' Emma said to herself feeling pity for the man
"ok hop on Mr," Emma said and Xavier entered the car immediately
"thank you so much miss" Xavier asked expecting her name
"oh... I'm Emerald" Emma said
"I'm Xavier..... Thank you so much Emerald it's so hard to find people who are willing to help these days " Xavier said looking at Emma with a smile and admiration filled his eyes
"you're welcome mr Xavier" Emma replied
"no need for the formalities Emerald, you can just call me Xavier," Xavier said
"ok, Xavier....so where are you heading to?" Emma asked
"oh you can just drop me off at the next bus station I can find my way from there" Xavier answered
"ok as you wish," Emma said
Xavier kept on starting at Emma as if trying to figure out something
Emma felt his gaze on her and she asked
"Is there something wrong Xavier ?" Emma asked
"Uhn Emerald do you perhaps have a sibling named Jessy," Xavier asked
"uhm no... I'm the only child of my parents" Emma replied
"oh, I'm sorry... You looked like someone I knew" Xavier said
"oh I get it" Emma nodded in understanding
"People often say that to me... so I guess if she looks like me she must have a great personality," Emma said and Xavier chuckled
"Yes she does..... she is the most fun person to be around, so cheerful and jovial but unfortunately she left," Xavier said sadly
"oh I'm sorry," Emma said pitifully
"no no, you don't need to be sorry she isn't dead we just can't find any traces of her and it's been years anyway," Xavier said with a smile and Emma could see the thesis man behind the mask must be very handsome
Emma smiled back at him and focused on the road
The truth is that she felt better talking to this stranger which just become a friend
'wow, she's pretty and she's nice too... It turned out that being abandoned isn't a bad thing after all' Xavier said sneaking glances at the pretty girl beside him

They got to the bus stop and Xavier got out of the car
"thank you once again, Emerald can I get your number so we can meet up often," Xavier said and handed the phone to Emma with hope in his eyes
Emma wanted to reject it but looking at his expression she couldn't so she just typed in her number and handed the phone back to him
"thank you and I hope to see you soon" Xavier said with an excited smile
"you're welcome Xavier, what are friends for, I hope to see you soon as well" Emma replied with a smile and drove off leaving the dazed Xavier behind
"Damn, my heart... How can someone be so gorgeous and that smile " Xavier exclaimed clutching his chest
