19 19. Let's Be Friends

Ash's POV:

I shook Alex awake the next morning, loving the way he cutely rubbed his green eyes. He was smiling as soon as he saw me, those eyes sparkling brightly with happiness.

"Hey," he said simply, his voice velvety and deep. The word, so simple, sounded elegant rolling from his tongue.

His light brown hair lay messily around his face, leaving behind a disheveled overall appearance. His soft lips tempted me; drawing me in and making it difficult to resist my instincts.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer," he joked, responding to my eyes on him.

"Why take a picture when it's all mine?"

His entire body shuddered pleasantly as a result of my comment.

"I don't know, that would be a waste of film since my everything is you."

He smiled briefly before beginning to walk to school, tugging me behind him. He used his other hand to flatten his hair until it looked like his usual style.

"Is that actually how you do your hair in the morning?" I snickered, finding amusement in the face he made.

"Yeah, but it does make me look hot."

"That it does."

We walked into the Geometry room to see the desks had all been moved around. Great, the teacher always does this to make us 'meet new people,' so I probably won't sit by Alex anymore.

Sure enough, he shuffled everyone all over and I was on the other side of the room from Alex. There were two girls on either side of him clearly trying to get into his pants that infuriated me. The jealousy rose from my skin when one of them brushed his arm with her hand.

Then I heard him respond with, "listen, sluts, I don't care if you are attracted to me, but only one person gets to touch and it ain't you."

"Oh really, and who's that?" One of the girls asked in a flirtatious purr.

"My boyfriend."

They both looked completely deflated, and one of them muttered something along the lines of, "the hot ones are always gay."

The monster inside of me was itching to get out at that comment, but Alex sent me a look that told me to check myself.

"Alright, class. Today we are getting a special visit from the school's principal."

Alex went rigid on his chair, his fingers gripping the table so tightly that his knuckles turned white. I felt awful for him, that his father was such a bitch.

Sure enough he walked in like he owned the place, his glaring eyes on Alex, who was biting his bottom lip nervously.

"So kids, today we are going to be doing something a bit different than usual. We are going to play a school wide game of hide and seek for bonding. If you can last until the end of the day, you get a special prize. Start hiding!"

Everyone sped off in different directions. In the chaos I lost Alex and prayed he was alright. Little did I know...

Alex's POV

I felt a pair of arms grab me from behind and the adrenaline rush through my system. I was about to scream, but the person slapped a hand over my mouth. There was a blindfold put over my eyes so that I couldn't see my kidnappers, and then they dragged me kicking and screaming out of a secret door and into the side lot of the school. Out of bounds, shit.

I was thrown into a vehicle before they began to drive. A person was with me in the back of the van carefully tying my wrists and ankles together so that I was blinded and immobile.

Tears leaked out of my eyes on their own accord. This could be the last moments of my life; I could die before I told Ash I loved him one last time. That was what really broke me down.

The vehicle came to a halt underneath me before I felt someone grip me by my arms and drag me across rocky ground and into a room that felt cold and dank. I was tied to a chair before the blindfold was taken off of my eyes. A face I recognized all too well looked back at me.

"Father," I snarled lowly, my voice dangerous.

"Yes?"

"Why am I here?"

"Easy. I asked you to come back and here we are."

"Why did you ask me to come back to this hell hole?"

"You're the only living heir your mother and I produced before her untimely death from the vampires. You have to take over this pack, with a female, at some point in the near future."

"You mean when you killed my mother. Don't act all dumb around me, I know your filthy tricks."

"Oh touche, you actually know about what I did to your mother! I'm shocked."

"I'm also never gonna marry a female wolf. I'm gay. Not to mention I have a mate, dammit!"

"I don't care what you think, it isn't your choice. Be glad I'm letting you choose between a select group of wolves as opposed to giving you one. Once you're done being difficult, I'll allow you to meet them."

I though for a moment before saying, "I'm done being difficult, let me out."

I didn't see any reason to fight my fate. It may not have been what I really wanted, but I had to. I didn't want to break Ash's heart, I didn't want to commit to a girl, but dad would never allow me free if I didn't.

"Alright then," he responded, untying me.

He lead me up a staircase and to a small room with a whole bunch of girls. I looked between them with caution. If I was forced to be with one of them, I wanted a girl who actually wanted to be near to me to hold. One who didn't want me just for sex.

There was one in the corner trying not to be seen that drew my attention. While all of the others fought for my attention, this one didn't want it.

I walked up to her gently, keeping my posture relaxed. The look in her eyes told me more than any words could.

"What's your name?" I asked quietly, keeping up the gentle tone.

"I'm Alice," she whispered, tears in her kind eyes.

"Are you alright?" I pondered dumbly.

"Are you stupid?" she shot back playfully.

"No... You're right that was a dumb question."

"Yeah."

"I'm going to choose you."

"N-no. Please don't!"

"May I ask why?"

"I'm lesbian," she breathed very quietly so that my father didn't hear.

"Eh, we won't do anything... I have a mate, male. My dad hates me for it and is forcing me to get a female."

"Oh, then I guess we're in the same boat. You can pick me if you'd like."

I pulled her to my father by the wrist, muttering the words, "I would like this one."

He smiled before saying with a wink, "good choice. Bring her to your room and get to know her."

We walked through the hall until we reached my private room. She plopped onto my bed while I took off my hoodie and smelt it. It still scented of him.

"Alright, well neither of us is looking for a relationship so let's be friends," she suggested.

"That sounds like a good idea."
