November Comes and Goes

Fuck Dante! After a week or so after my birthday, he went back to ghosting me. I look down at my feet and groan. I kick the rock and sigh.

As I walk, I see Dante. He's with a bunch of his friends and he looks happy.

He looks up from one of his friends and sees me. His smile goes away and he looks away. His friends look back and see me.

Tears weld in my eyes as my feet kick off the ground towards the woods. As I go deeper in the woods, I realize I have no idea where I went.

I go to call my dad, but my phone is dead. I sigh and sit against a rock and cry to my heart's content. As it grows night, more animals are coming out.

I look at the night sky, wondering if anyone is gonna find me. After a while or so, my eyes fell droopy. I looked at my hands as they swayed and I realize I was falling asleep.

"There was a shark attack. Everyone on the beach must evacuate immediately. These are not any sharks. They are traveling in a pack of 6."

I turn off the radio and rush to the ocean. The life guards not there so I may swim to my heart's content. That was until I felt two arms grab me.

"Eve! There you are! I got her!." I hummed to the sound of the familiar voice. I turn and see Dante. He looks so dreamy and hot.

His eyes start bleeding with tears and I hug him. His heart beat calms me.

"EVE! PLEASE! EVE! WAKE UP!" My ears pick up.

I go to answer the voice but no sound is made. I try opening my eyes, but the bright light is making it impossible.

The arms that were wrapped around me pick me and carry me.

When I woke, I saw Mr and Mrs. Helinzer, Ray's Parents. I also saw Claire, Ray, Dante, Ann, and everyone else from the block.

"Dad?"

"Oh thank god! She's okay."

"Dad, what happened?"

"Sweetheart, you were lost or something in the woods. Everyone went looking for you. What happened out there?"

I look down and realize I'm in my room. "We...we, uh, we had to put you here. You got scratched up pretty good or so said Dante, who brought you here."

I look at Dante and he groans. "It didn't mean anything, I was just helping Ray's annoying best friend." My arm went to reach up to my face and it stung.

"Ouch!" I look at it and see a bruise. Then I look at the guys and kick them out of the room. I have Claire help me sit up as I looked at my legs.

My entire body looks as though someone did something to it. My friend, Bianca said there were raw scratches on my back, which look as though a bear did it. I sigh and lean back down.

"So...Dante found me, huh?" They nod. I sigh and grab a pillow. I can't wait until November is over.

"But, what did he mean by it meant nothing?"

Someone hit my foot. "What?"

I look and see Dante. I give him a questioning look and sigh. I just noticed the girls left me. I lean back down, throwing the pillow over my face.

"Talking about me?" I huff. I feel the bed move. Then the pillow is gone. I turn over and see that Dante was next me, holding my pillow hostage.

"Look,Eve I'm-"

"No need. You were right. I'm just your friends annoying friend."

"Eve,-"

"And so what? Its not like I liked you or anything. But that's besides the point. I should be saying thank-"

He shushed me. I look at him wide eyed as he removed his hand.

"Listen. I didn't mean what I said. I'm just frustrated as its my fault you got lost." I place my hand on his and chuckled softly.

"No, no. Its mine. I ran in the woods after I saw you. I didn't know where I went and my phone was dead. And...well...yeah." I explained.

He nods and throws his head back. "So it ain't my fault? Wow. And I was over here feeling like a big jerk. After Abby broke up with me,Ray told me to stay away from you."

"Why?"

"He thought I was gonna date you and break your heart, like Marcus did."

"Oh. Is that why every boy stays away from me?" His eyes widen.

"Uh, yeah. Totally from him." He nervously scratched his head and as soon I was gonna question him, Ray walked in.

"Hey." I wave. Dante gets up and walks out. Ray takes his spot and laughs.

"He told you, huh?" I nod. He sighs and pulls me close. "I did it for your own game. He may be my best friend, but he is a mega player and I don't want you to get hurt."

I playfully punch him and we end up falling asleep like this.

Then next day, me, Ann, Claire all went to school together. We laughed on the way and had some serious conversations.

When we walk into the building, everybody stares and looks away. Claire falls silent, as does Ann.

I look at them confusingly. They try shrugging it off.

But I knew better than that. "Guys? What the hell is going on?" They sigh and pull out their phones, ignoring me. I huff and walk to my locker.

I hear footsteps behind me, but I don't care. I make my way past the girls bathroom, before getting pulled back.

"Eve. Why?"

"What?"

"You...you...nevermind." I don't get to see that person, as they ran off before I could. However, I knew it was a girl.

Today was an extremely off day. Everyone kept staring at me and stuff. Ray...well Ray wasn't in school. Neither was Dante.

During lunch, I sat with Bianca. "Hey." She waves. "Do you know what is going on?"She choked on her food, then nodded. "Can you tell me?"

"Yeah. Well...um... Apparently everyone thinks you and Dante hooked up, then you went with Ray the same night." My eyes widen!

"Are you serious? Where in the world did someone come up with that?!"

"I did." I turn around and meet eyes with Ashley.

"W-why? You clearly know nothing is going on between us three!"

"Oh, well, it wasn't just me. It was also Abby and Marcus." Marcus? Abby?

I stop up and walked over to them. "What the hell is wrong with you three?!" People turned heads. "You know as well as I do that there is no feelings between us three. Ray and I grew up with each other. Besides, HE'S DATING Claire.

"And me and Dante? Well, there is no feelings. None. Zero. I don't even like hanging out with him sometimes." I continued my rampage until someone coughed.

"What?!" I turn and come face to face with Dante. "Oh." He walks backwards and runs off. I quickly follow.

"Dante! Wait! I didn't mean it." He stops and I catch up to him. Curse heels. I could've gone faster if I wasn't wearing them.

"Oh really? Seems like to me you did. You were right though. There is no feelings between us and there never will be." He turns to face me, tears in his eyes as well as mine.

"Ya know, I used to like you, no love you. But right now, I have no idea."

"You wanna know something?! I had a crush on you, since we first met. And honestly, as soon as you entered highschool, you changed. You blocked me out stopped being my friend, until this year."

Two days later, the entire school talks about the fight me and Dante had. I sighed and put on headphones. Dad knows as well. Mandy walks up stairs.

"You have a visitor." I grunt and sat up. Dante walks in, with Ray. I look at Mandy who squeaks and runs down stairs.

"Yes?"

"We need to talk...its important." I lean in. "Oh boy. Ok. Um. Well. Ray's moving." I lean back. I look at Ray who moves his to look at the door and he starts crying. I guess I start crying too, as Dante holds me.

"Is it true?" He nods. "Ray, come here." He walks over and I pull him into a hug. "Where are you guys moving to?"

"Boston." Wow.

"That's across the country!" He nods. "What about Claire?" He gulps. Dante and him share a look.

"She's moving with us." I don't know why, but my blood starting boiling.

"So...you're leaving me here, alone?"

"Don't say it like that. You'll have Dante."

"Yea, well Dante isn't you!" I snapped. "Sorry. Anyways, when are you guys moving?"

"After Thanksgiving." I nod. But then it clicks.

"That's next week!" I feel more tears rushing down my cheeks. Dante holds me closer. Ray lets go, as his phone was ringing.

"I'll be back." He walks out of the room.

"So, he's really leaving us huh?" I feel Dante nod. I grumble. "This is gonna take sometime to get used to." I feel my head getting wet. I look up and see tears on Dante.

I wipe them away and give him a small smile. "Ya know, I'm sort for what I said a couple of days ago."

"Me too. Question."

"Hmm?"

"Do you still have feelings for me?" Welp. Shit. I stay still and Dante laughs. "You do!" He smirks and leans in. I feel his breathe against my ear as he talks.

"You know how Ray told me to stay away from you? Well I'm not. He's practically telling me to be near you." He whispers and pulls back. The door opens.

"Hey, I have to go. Dante come on." Ray turns and heads out the door.

"Welp that's my cue." He unwraps himself and kisses my cheek and runs out. "See ya later, V!" V was his nickname for me, well my brother's.

Mandy walks back in my room. She knows already something is going on and hugs me.

"I heard Ray was moving. How are you holding up?"

"Good." We stay like this and then Dad and Chris walk in. They join the hug.

"Man, Sky is leaving me and Bennie."

"My friends are leaving us."

We all laugh and have an amazing night. This is the first time in a while we were all home.
