You're Courting Death!

Co-Posted on Scribblehub under the same name. Crappy Synopsis Below..... It was a bright sunny day when it happened..... When Yun Xie arrived in that other world. A world of flying cultivators and ancient ruins. A world, unlike any other... The one where the Dark Crow flew across the Nine Realms, and that one filled with more young masters than you could count. Where cliche tropes were a new reality, and no one had a inch of common sense or logic. Good thing he brought with him some overpowered (Albeit a bit cringy) cheats. It would be good fun. Some parts are sort of copy and paste, I really can't do much about it because I want the MC to be part of the main storyline, as that is fun..... If you wanna get to the actual story, go to volume 2. Update: When I feel like it.... Disclaimer: For the most part, many of the characters and such don't belong to me, besides OC''s and such. I can't write these types of stories...... A haven for Plot Holes......

Chapter 37

Outskirts Of Verdant Emerald City

"Thanks Gamabunta…. You can go if you want now…" Yun Xie smiled up at the giant Toad, who nodded, letting out a deep, throaty chuckle, disappearing into a poof of smoke.

Nan Huai Ren lay on the ground, chest to the floor, his arms out. Li Shuangyan stood to the side, leaning against a tree. She seemed to be trying to stay nonchalant, but sweat trailed down the side of her neck, and her hair was a mess.

"Fun ride huh?" Yun Xie exclaimed, clasping his hands together cheerfully. The two looked up at him in exasperation. But it was true, the ride was…. Quite thrilling indeed.

"What are we doing here anyway?" Nan Huai Ren got up after a while, his back soaked in sweat.

"You'll see…. In the meantime, put on these masks…. Have to remain a bit anonymous…." Yun Xie took three carved wooden masks from out of nowhere.

One, which he kept to himself, was a fox one, white in color with wide black pupils and a long scar running down the side. The second one was that of a wolf, painted grey with blue markings down its sides. The third was a cat one, with the mocking face one would typically see on a Fortune Cat in Chinatown. The whole mask was white, with the cat part outlined in a brilliant red.

Putting the mask on, which magically stuck to his face, he shifted around for a bit. He was now a Fox Mask Man. Man with a Fox Mask. Man Wearing A Fox Mask. Whatever.

Then an unfamiliar deep throaty voice came out. "These warding masks are special. For one thing, as you can see, they automatically stick to your face. Pretty durable too. Also, have a few….. Unsavory spells tacked into them to protect you from the enemy….."

Nan Huai Ren looked down, hesitating for a second, before he grabbed the Cat one, nervously putting it on. As he put it over his face, the mask seemed to sink in. He quickly took it off, which it then slid off with ease. Putting it back on, he coughed, emitting a high-pitched robotic voice. Li Shaungyan looked down. She and Huai Ren trusted Yun Xie quite a bit, as he didn't seem like a backstabber, though whatever they were getting themselves into, was it really worth it?

Then, Yun Xie patted both of them on the shoulder, and with no prior warning, apparated them onto the roof in the city walls. The other two, not used to it, stumbled clumsily, with Huai Ren falling over and Li Shuangyan looking a bit queasy. He could have used Kamui or about every other teleportation ability in existence, but apparition seemed like one of the nast- most exciting.

A deep guttural chuckle came out of Li Shuangyan. "Feels….. Quite weird." In place of her beautiful feminine voice was now the deep baritone voice of someone who, when first heard, would seem like a burly old man who had probably also committed homicide….. But that was just bias and stereotype…..

Soon, everyone was completely back up on their feet, looking around at the city below. It was an extremely wealthy one indeed. Rich….. All the buildings, including the one they were standing on, we're all probably owned by people of great status or money. Probably money though. Rich... Giant buildings, the lot of them. Made of some sort of magical xianxia wood most likely, covered in ornate carvings of dragons and phoenixes, whatever. And, the tiles seemed to be made of some crackly also magical jade. Rich...

Not to mention the copious amount of vegetation and emeralds all around. Countless lush trees and shrubs decorated the city walls, emeralds literally embedded into about every other pillar in the city…. Verdant Emerald City indeed….

The city streets were wide, with gold-plated tiles. Countless people walked down the streets, all wearing illustrious silk robes and other things of the sort. Shops lined the streets, all displaying expensive items. Ornate glittering swords, "celestial" silk dresses, and other rich people stuff.

Li Shuangyan blinked in surprise as she looked around. She had seen the outside of it, but there seemed to be an array or formation of sorts that shaded it down quite a bit. The materials used to create this place were obviously extremely expensive, even to her Nine Saint Demon Gate Sect in some cases.

"What….. Is this place?" She asked in somewhat confusion.

"A rich city." Yun Xie replied, looking down as an elephant paraded through the streets.

"Would you be so kind to be more specific?" Li Shuangyan spoke, glowering a little under her mask.

"Verdant Emerald City. Fun place. It's part of the Soaring Immortal Sect or whatever it was called. Lacking in culinary culture." Speaking in broken sentences, Yun Xie suddenly slammed his foot down, the tiles below them cracking as he created a hole. Motioning to them, he dropped down into what seemed to be a rich person's bedroom.

Ah, the joys of breaking and entering…. Not something Yun Xie would normally do, but the Soaring Immortal Sect was an antagonist in the series, and being the "righteous" and "good-hearted" person, he would have to help bring down such a menace with everything he could…. Right? Definitely not for the sake of self-interest. Plus, with how rich all these plebs were, they wouldn't miss their house, right? And all of their furniture, maybe those snazzy jade tiles too?

(A/N: Note. House as in house. Whole house. Furniture not included, as furniture is not a house.)

Nan Huai Ren and Li Shuangyan followed after, dropping down lightly. They had agreed to go on this so-called "vacation", and Yun Xie seemed to know what he was doing….

The room they had landed in was quite huge, and of course luxurious…..

Rich....

(A/N: I am almost to 1k collections. Please help me reach that. Why? Dunno. It literally has no meaning but 1k is cool. Makes me feel good about myself. But I still trash at writing. If you have any suggestions as to how to improve my writing, tell me.)
