113 Weird People

I carry the passed-out young lady and her servant. On my shoulders, potato sack style. Then I look for the owner. When he sees us, he starts screaming.

"W-what have you done?!"

[Me? Nothing. Found them like that in the backyard.]

"How did this even happen?!"

[If you ask me, who am I supposed to ask?]

Actually, I can guess what happened. She somehow pushed herself too much. I guess this is what a magical backslash looks like. Who knew playing music takes mana?

[Anyway where are their rooms?]

He starts showing the way. Just as we are about to get there, comes out a young man dressed in lavish clothes. He is escorted by 5 men. He is walking his head held high up. A guy that would fit the image of a proud son of heaven. Composed and handsome. That is until he sees who I'm carrying. His face twists with rage. He looks at me with enmity.

"You! How dare you touch her!"

There is an issue with this man's brain. He didn't show a trace of worry or concern. Nope. Simply started shouting.

[Just bringing them back to their rooms.]

"Y-you, how dare you desecrate such a maiden with your filthy hands!"

[You do see that I'm carrying the dude too, right?]

"Who cares about him!"

[I mean, she probably would. He's her servant…]

"Alright, we can solve this issue amicably. Let my servants beat you up and I won't bring the issue any longer."

[Young master syndrome?]

"What?"

[Oh, it's when a character thinks he's better than everyone and acts retarded.]

"Y-you! How dare you!"

[Anyway, are you gonna move or do I push you myself.]

"You think you can defeat the 6 of us by yourself!"

[Yep.]

"You truly believe so?!"

[Yep.]

*Whispering*

"Psst boss, he looks serious. It could be dangerous."

His servants are advising him. Sadly there is no way that he will listen to them. It will quickly devolve into an awesome face-slapping moment. I am ready!

"You! I'll pardon you this once seeing as your intentions were noble! Men, let's go!"

[….]

Yeah, never mind. I guess there is a difference between arrogant and death seeking.

I lay the man on the bed in his room then the girl. Afterward, I simply leave. I could totally stay at her bedside to score brownie points.

But it would be dumb in its own way. We just met. There is no way I am feeling guilty about her situation either.

If anything this will be good practice. For if she ever needs to finger all night long in the future. Apparently, it seems to take a lot of endurance too. Playing the Guqin.

I wander around the building. That is when I see a man that can only be described as a farmer. He smells of earth and I can somehow feel a familiar aura from him. Yep, the scent of nature. It is faint but there. I give him a thumbs up.

[You smell nice, brother!]

He starts walking faster while clenching his buttocks.

[I didn't mean it that way! You remind me of the smell of home is all!]

"I won't be your home!!"

Then he runs away. The merchant from yesterday turns the corner.

"I gotta say this is probably one of the boldest proposals I've ever seen!"

[I didn't mean it this way!]

"I know haha. I'm teasing you. Let me guess you grew up on a farm?"

[Ah, no I grew up in the city.]

"Oh? Then why did you say that then?"

[I did live in a forest for a while that is why.]

"Ah, I see. Anyway, I have been meaning to talk to you. Are you sure it's a good idea to send your guard and ...rat confront bandits?"

[If the enemies prove too troublesome, they can always run. It probably will be fine.]

"You seem to have a lot of confidence in them."

[We'll see. I'm just betting that they'll be wise enough to retreat if it seems too dangerous.]

"Honestly I need to admit you baffle me completely."

[How so haha?]

"Well, you exude a very conflicting aura."

[I do? How do I hide that?]

"No haha. I don't mean a literal one. As a merchant, I am used to dealing with people. I am used to figuring out who they really are."

[So?]

"You both emit a royal aura and one extremely down to earth. As if social castes didn't exist I your eyes."

I mean, I grew up on earth so that much is understandable.

"It is exactly because of this that I want to warn you. The bandits have a way to receive information from this place. I'm afraid they already know your men are coming."

[What do you mean? They have spies?]

"Yes, but I'm not sure who."

[Weren't you the one that bragged about reading people a few seconds ago?]

"Ah, who knows. Anyway, you should be careful."

[So let me get this straight. You are warning me after they have left. Meaning it would already be too late by then. What use is that?]

"Ah, true it is pretty useless. My bad."

No wonder this guy is stuck here with us! He just likes to gossip but in fact, he's confused as hell!

That is when exits from a room the badass-looking guy from yesterday.

[Hey there, are you still disappointed with the radishes? Haha.]

He looks my way.

"I think you have me confused with my twin brother. He left to scout the surroundings trying to spot the bandits."

[So, you both are feeding the bandits information? What is your arrangement exactly?]

"W-what?! No way?! I've never even met the Gang in the area!"

[Oh, the bandits call themselves a gang?]

"No! Most bandits call themselves gangs that's all!"

[Yeah, sure.]

I turn toward the merchant.

[What was that about having a good intuition? Are you blind?!]

Ah, whatever. I don't care. That is when the musician girl barges out. How is she already awake?

"You scoundrel! Let's go again! I'll make you regret toying with me all night long! I'll show you how good I am with my hands!"

"…"

"…"

The two men look at each other before bolting away. Not wanting to be caught in the crossfire.

[…]

There is definitely something wrong with the people in this place.
