Yggdrasil’s Developer

The story follows a man that was reincarnated into the future, or so he thought. Instead, he was reincarnated into the world of Earth 2138, where he found a job as a developer for a game. "Hmm, I must have seen this game idea somewhere, it seems familiar," "Wait, isn't this Overlord?!?!" Note: Not a plot following fanfic. Rewriting some mistakes made in the early chapters.

E2138-12: Businessman Yuki

October 2126

Neo Kyoto Archology.

Inside an apartment in the working class area, Yuki was disconnecting from his Neural Nano VR by plugging out the cable from the back of his neck.

*sighs*

Yuki cursed as he sat in front of his computer. "Fuck," he muttered, frustration and disappointment evident in his voice.

"I had already become a developer and planned to bring this power to the new world," he thought, "and now my plans were ruined.

He knew he should have seen this coming. "The Earth of 2030 and the Earth of 2128 are the same," he reminded himself. "Connections and money, that's what it all comes down to."

He sighed heavily. "Exactly. Plan A is dead and gone," he said, acknowledging the reality of the situation. "Plan B is underway, but I hope I don't have to go down that road."

Yuki knew that he needed a new plan. "Plan C," he thought. "To live comfortably enough to focus on Yggdrasil, I need a source of income that provides a stable amount of money."

He thought for a moment, tapping his fingers on his desk. "Hmm... what kind of thing will provide that for me?" he asked himself.

"Business," he said, finally coming to a decision. "Still standing tall and strong through the test of time, the oldest known profession in the world."

"Joy"

Yuki sat in front of his computer, his mind racing with the thoughts of his newly formed plan. He had been a developer for years now, but the recent events have caused him to reassess his priorities. After a few deep breaths, Yuki reached out and turned on his computer, the sound of the fans whirring to life filling the room.

He opened his web browser and began searching for properties outside the city, away from the safety of the archology. He had always been interested in real estate, and he figured that this would be a good opportunity to invest in something that would give him a steady stream of income.

As he scrolled through the listings, Yuki couldn't help but think about the old Earth of 2030 and how different it was from the Earth of 2128. Despite all the advancements in technology and society, it seemed that the same issues remained - connections and money were still just as important as they were years ago.

Aside from looking for properties, Yuki also checked the stocks that he put money on early on, based on some inside information he had received. He was pleased to see that his investments were performing well and that his portfolio was growing.

Yuki thought to himself as he scanned the list of properties for sale. Suddenly, one caught his attention. The price was relatively low and the ad said that the owner needed money fast.

"Interesting," Yuki thought. He noticed that the price was only 64 million dollars, which was much lower than the average for a building of that size. He realized that this could mean that the owner was in debt and needed the money as soon as possible.

(Author's Note: 64 Million dollar is the number that i got if a 1 million dollar asset grow steadily over 100 years from now)

"Wait a minute, I know this area," Yuki thought. He remembered that banks don't usually lend money to people in this area, so the owner might have resorted to borrowing from loan sharks. Yuki wondered if he might know the loan shark involved.

With that in mind, Yuki picked up his phone and started to dial a number. He was determined to get to the bottom of the situation and possibly make a deal that would benefit himself.

*dialing*

Kiryu: Yuki? Is that you? The janitor?

Yuki: Hey, Kiryu. Nice of you to remember me.

Kiryu: I heard you became a developer for a hot game. So why did you call?

Yuki: I was just wondering if the building next to the orphanage might be in debt to you?

Kiryu: Why did you ask?

Yuki: Oh, I want to buy it and open a shop.

Kiryu: Maybe. What kind of business would you like to open?

Yuki: A hotel and a bar.

Kiryu: The truth, Yuki.

Yuki: All right, a hotel, bar, casino and brothel.

Kiryu: -_-

Kiryu: He owes me 50 million.

Yuki: Okay, then I might need some bouncers.

Kiryu: The kind that attracts both men and women. And by the way, it will cost you 1 million for the information fee.

Yuki: You're the man, Kazuma Kiryu. I'll send you the money right away.
