223 Clickbait

There are two types of click bait, the first is composed of just straight up lies whilst the second actually fulfills what it promises.

The first category of clickbait is universally hated as it betrays our trust in titles. The sad part is that clickbait is designed to be tempting and it sometimes is really hard to resist.

The second type of clickbait is awesome as the article/ video delivers what it promised and everyone leaves happy. They use extreme adjectives to describe certain scenarios and as long as it's true, they deserve the right to clickbait. An example would be "I almost got kidnapped". If you use such a titel I'll naturally expect that either someone physically tried to grab you or you were at least chased a bit.

And some clickbait possibilities can be detected for a mile away like when the Epic Games store chose the game "Everything" as the next free game of the week. You don't need to be a genius to know that there will be articles popping with unbelievable titles like "EVERYTHING IS FREE ON THE EPIC GAMES STORE FOR A LIMITED TIME". I was quite amused when I found an article with a similar titel just a few hours later.
