The beach house was where my life turned upside down, where everything I knew was ripped away from me. I could still remember that night like it was yesterday..... Xavier screaming my name, Josh meaty fingers on my neck. The people who I thought were my friends betraying me. That's the last place I want to take my child.

"What the fuck do you want from me, Vanessa! I am trying to keep you safe, trying to keep our daughter safe. If they get hands-on with both of you, do you think they will let you live? No Vanessa. You already gave them what they wanted, you aren't useful to them anymore. What they want is Amelia and if you get in their way, they won't hesitate to kill you." He says too calm 

"Who is they?" I whispered, my body trembling. They want my baby. 

"You think I know, all I know is this is far bigger than any of us. So for once in your life let me keep you safe." 

"Okay," I say giving in.
