This Looks Familiar

PAIN

That's all I'm feeling at the moment. It feels like someone has taken a chisel and was hammering words and letters on my own soul.

"AHHHHHHH" I scream a primal shout as I release as much power as I can to just stop this pain.

Then it hit me

"AHHHHHH" with another shout, I take over the magic invading my soul

*DING* the notification rang loudly as I'm heaving on the ground

"Are you ok?" asked a male voice

*POV shift*

Looking up I saw a bald man wearing glasses and what seems to be mage robes, this is further established by the staff he was holding

Telling Scarlet to fill him in in the background he answered "Peachy" he groaned "where am I?"

"Ah, my apologies" the man bowed "my name is Jean Colbert, I am a teacher in this establishment Tristanian Academy of Magic"

"Nice to meet you Colbert" Xander smiled "my name is Xander and I'm from a world beyond this one"

Colbert nodded "I see"

"Now, why was I summoned?" he turned to the short pinkette, establishing that he is not speaking to Colbert anymore

"You are my familiar spirit, so you better be grateful that I accepted you, plebeian" the girl spoke haughtily

Xander took a moment to contemplate his next move. He was currently Saito, the MC of familiar of Zero and the girl in front of him is probably Louise, the main love interest and an avid tsundere. Thankfully he learned how to deal with these kinds from dealing with Kisara.

He assigned his fifty starter points to get

Body: 6 + 12 = 18

Mind: 12 + 38 = 50

Spirit: 4800

He then activated his [Ghost Mode]

His Black hair turned Red. His eyes took a purple hue in one and golden in another. He never truly figured out how to awaken his golden flames, but he had no doubt he would get it eventually.

His clothing transformed to a red cloak surrounding his original jumpsuit. It was a passive ability he developed called [Blood cloak]. It's great for defence and greater for hiding the jumpsuit...

He didn't want to wear the jumpsuit as an adult alright, let's move on.

He smiled a not so nice guy smile, one that is best known as Kakashi's eye smile. He didn't know whether it was the transformation or the smile that unnerved the girl but judging by the Colbert's moving to stand in front of her protectively, she wasn't the only one on edge.

Xander lifted his right arm and extended it to the right, where no students were and there wasn't any obstacle till the far external wall.

Red energy gathered in the out-facing palm and the next second, a beam of concentrated energy blasted through the world. It took a second to charge, fire and reach its target, where it decimated the enchanted wall as if it was made of paper.

During this whole time Xander never looked away from Louise, nor did he drop his eye smile "Shall we try that again little miss?"

"Wh-who are you?" she asked shakily

"I have many names" Xander opened his eyes, revealing their colours "but you can call me Xander"

*BGM end*

'A good purchase if I say so myself' Xander mused to himself 'at 100 points, having a BGM track is a steal'

[I still say it's narcissistic]

'And I still say I don't care, it made DOOM that much more entertaining' Xander countered

"Nice to meet you Xander" Louise inturupted Xander's silent conversation as it appears her training took over "my name is Louise de La Vallière, a student of the Tristanian Academy of Magic and the third daughter of the Vallière family" she curtsied

Xander smiled a gentler smile this time "nice to meet you Louise. I hope you would help me in the future as I have never been to this world before"

Louise blushed at his smile and tone "o-of course, I am your ma..." she was interrupted by a red light shining in front of her and Xander having a Kakashi smile again. it looked scarier with the red orb of energy under his face "uh... I mean..."

"I think the word you're looking for is Partner" Colbert came to the rescue

"R-right, partner... as your partner it's my duty to assist you in becoming more familiar with this world" she corrected herself

Xander nodded with a proud look on his face "as expected of my partner. She has beauty, power and a noble soul" he praised

Louise couldn't help the blush and smug grin that adorned her face "I g-guess you recognise my greatness, hahaha"

'She's so simple' several people thought at the same time

Louise's good mood was dropped quickly as someone spoke "her? Powerful? This must be a joke"

Turning to the source revealed a blond, handsome and entirely too vain young man "she can't cast any spells without causing an explosion. It's why she's called Zero Louise"

Xander paused, and looked at Louise who was looking at the floor with a blush as tears threatened to fall from her eyes.

'Scarlet?'

[She's a void mage, she can't use the same magic as the rest...] Scarlet continued to explain everything as Xander turned to Colbert

"What spells have you been teaching her?" he asked

"What do you mean?" Colbert asked

"Her magic is deferent from the rest" Xander explained. When he saw a confused look on the teacher's face he continued "her magic is completely different from the rest, it's more volatile and much, much more powerful. If she uses standard incantations it would cause heavy magical explosions."

Everyone had a flabbergasted look on their faces as Xander explained why Louise is bad at magic "I – I have to tell the headmaster about this"

Xander sent a blank look at Colbert "so you mean to tell me this institute has failed to recognise a student with a completely different magical signature to the rest and then failed said student by forcing her to suffer bullying from other students for their failure to recognise her potential"

Colbert took the dressing down in strides as he turned to Louise and bowed his head "I offer my sincerest apologies on behalf the Tristanian Academy of Magic"

It did help that Charm is based on a mixture of Body, Mind and Spirit, and Xander had five times an average adult's Mind and a couple hundred times the Spirit.

"Everyone dismissed" Colbert continued then turned to Louise "I need to report this to the headmaster, please come with me, you too Mr Xander"

"Xander is fine Colbert, and in fact preferred" Xander replied as he moved towards Louise whose head was again lowered "We'll follow" he dismissed him

Colbert nodded and left them to settle themselves. The student's however weren't so kind.

"So we're supposed to believe you just like that?" the same boy scoffed "You're probably just trying to save your pride for being summoned by a..."

Whatever else he was going to say was interrupted as Xander froze him solid with an eye blast. His hard glare caused several students to run, except for four students; three girls and one boy.

The boy and a blond girl ran to the frozen blond while the two girls approached Xander

"How did you do that?" asked the shorter blue haired girl. She wore glasses and had a staff in one hand and a book in another.

The taller girl looked surprised "I can't believe you actually asked someone something Tabitha" she voiced her surprise. She had long red hair, tan skin and a uniform that was entirely too small.

"Not now" Xander replied as he lifted Louise in a bridal carry. Her only objection is the little 'eep' she let out "talk later" he nodded in greeting before walking through a rift in space.

The red haired girl had a look of absolute lust on her face while the now identified Tabitha looked as bored as she always did.

Xander and Louise reappeared on the roof of one of the academy towers. He sat down and set her on his lap, gently holding her to himself as she quietly cried.

Throughout her first year she was bullied, verbally only of course as no one dares lay a hand on her, but he suffering extended to her home as well. Her parents and eldest sister prevented her from leaving their estate as punishment for failing to preform magic as a 'proper Vallière'. It was so hard that even she began to believe it, ever so slightly.

But then he came. He is strong. No weak witch can summon him. Then that Gramont asshole had to ruin her moment, but Xander defended her.

Her Partner defended her... The thought brought a smile to her face.

She wanted him to know. She wanted him to understand just how much it meant to her that someone would defend her.

"Thank you" she spoke softly. She hated herself for not saying more. She needs to say more...

"Anytime" he answered and hugged her closer

Maybe she didn't need to say more after all
