20 Fight or Flight

I've got to admit, I don't like how things are turning out.

Flashback.

I landed on the ground beside Rogue after leaping off the tower.

" You doing alright, Kid?" She asked.

" Yeah, still a little sore. But everything's fine. Did Cyclops and the others find Hope?" I asked.

" Yeah, uh. You're just gonna have to see this for yourself." Rogue told me.

I could tell from the look on her face that something was off. She didn't seem scared more concerned and confused. I knew that whatever I was about to see was going to be either the most confusing thing I've ever seen.

Rogue and I walked into the main room, where all of the other mutants who had joined us to fight including Iceman, Rachel, Psylocke, the lights, Noriko, Dust, Prodigy, Dr. Nemesis, Gambit, Frenzy, And others, had come together and standing in the middle of the room, engulfed in bright fire and light were the five mutants who were supposed to be leading us. Cyclops, Emma Frost, Namor, Colossus, and Magik. And right beside them was Hope herself.

' Okay, so they managed to get, Hope. But what is that thing circling around the others?' I wondered. And then I heard it again. Its loud and vicious roar. ' Jesus, they split it up. I don't know how but they split up the phoenix force.' I had a feeling in my gut that things weren't going to end well with this development. From the time I had known some of them, Magik and Namor were both dysfunctional. Namor was a self-righteous conceited, jack ass. And Magik was just all-around bat-shit crazy.

" I know some of you might be confused or scared. But know that we are in control of the Phoenix Force. It has given the five us Emma, Namor, Colossus, Magik, and myself the power to change the world and so we shall. No more will fight amongst ourselves or against the Avengers. From now on, we will work to better the world not just for mutants but for everyone. I have a plan to help the world's countries. But I will still need all of your help. We slowly and surely terraform the many countries of the world. We will, remove all weapons, build new grasslands, provide water to desolate and dried up regions, and we will provide new energy to help transform the entire planet into a Utopia." Scott explained.

I must say it all sounds good and the idea that the world could finally be at peace. No killing, no crime, no starvation. It truly did sound like Utopia.

After going over the plans for this transformation everyone went their separate ways to prepare. I however, decided to go and speak with Hope.

I walked up to the girl and I could notice from the look on her face that she wasn't happy. In fact she looked sad.

" Yo, Hope." I called out to the girl.

Hope turned and looked at me. " Oh, it's you. What are you doing here?" She asked.

" Name's Shiva by the way. But well, I'm here for you. Or at least I thought I was. What happened?" I asked the girl.

I had been under the assumption that she was the one who was supposed to be given the powers of the phoenix to save our race. Not Scott and the others. And yet here she stands, powerless, and Scott and the others are off doing whatever they pleased.

" A lot, really. I thought I could control the power. But it was too much. And The Avengers did something that split the power of the phoenix up. And now... I don't know." Hope spoke.

" Well, what do you want to do now? This is all about you, Hope. Nothing can happen without you. If you don't want to be here, then leave. Just make sure you think about what it is that makes you happy. And hey, it's not like you're alone. Idie misses you and I'm here too. So, if you ever need to talk or just get away from all this messiah mess. Just let me know. I got your back." I told the girl.

Hope smiled and nodded.

" What are you doing here, boy?" Namor one of the newly crowned Phoenix five asked me as he approached Hope and I.

" Whatever, I want." I told the man.

" You will leave, Hope now. She has important business to take care of."

" Well, Hope hasn't said anything, so I think we're cool." I told the man. I then turned back to Hope and felt a hand grab me.

Namor had reached out and put his hand on my shoulder and started squeezing. I turned towards the man and glared at him.

" Get your hand off me." I shrugged Namor's hand off and turned back to Hope. " Come on, Hope. Let's get away from the sea stripper."

Hope nodded and we both turned to walk away.

Namor not wanting to let things go, grabbed my shoulder and violently turned me around.

I raised my fist and punched Namor in his face, sending him flying.

" I told you not to touch me." I told the man.

" You dare strike the king of Atlantis?! You will burn boy." Namor got to his feet and charged me. I wasn't going to back down from this fight, so I ran towards him as well. We both went to punch each other, but before we had the chance, Cyclops appeared and stopped both of us.

" Are you two done? We have more important concerns than fighting each other." Cyclops spoke.

Namor and I both backed down.

" Fine, but once this is over, I will tear your head off your shoulders." Namor spoke.

" Anytime, pervert. Take your best shot." I growled at the man and turned and walked away from the man. " Remember what I said, Hope." I told the girl one last time before walking out of the room.

Flashback end.

" I don't like this. I know this is supposed to be a good thing. But something just feels off. Those five just seem to be getting more and more aggressive." I sighed and rubbed my face. " What the hell have I gotten myself into? Ruth, I really wish you were here right now. Three weeks now without seeing your face and I feel like a part of me is gone." I sighed again and got to my feet. I looked into the sky, and I noticed that something big was heading straight for us.

" What the?"

* BOOM!* A sudden explosion rocked Utopia. Swarming the metallic Island were the Avengers and shield.

I had been buried under the debris. I flexed my muscles and blew the roof off of my body and when I got to my feet, I saw Thor and the rest of Avengers standing in front of me.

" You really picked a bad day to piss me off." I told the men and women.

" Step aside boy, Or Thor will move you himself."

" I want to see you try."
