20 More Mutants!

Explosions rang out across the world as Scott fought with the avengers. Rag dolling Hulk from Sydney to Sacramento. Knocking Thor into space and leaving him unconscious. His attacks leaving behind a trail of destruction for other heroes to try and mitigate. " I just had to be a good guy, didn't I?" Bart yelled as he ran through Paris, helping Gambit and Hawkeye in saving the civilians from the destruction of Scott's attacks.

" It's what we do, kid now focus on those Civilians. You've got a burning apartment complex at the corner of 31st and Maine." Hawkeye explained to the boy. Hawkeye pulled out an arrow and fired it at the falling debris. The arrow exploded on contact and blew the piece of the falling building away. ' Damn it, Cyke you've really out done yourself this time.'

Bart ran through the burning city, searching for anyone still trapped in their cars or injured along the road as he made his way to the burning apartments. Bart looked over his shoulder towards the giant smoke cloud. " Man, oh man Oh man! This is crazy. Just a month ago I was a regular ever day kid in school. Now, I'm dodging falling buildings and phoenix fire. When the hell did, I lose my mind?" Bart complained. Bart raced around the corner of 30th and arrived just outside his destination.

The giant blaze that spanned the building completely blocked out the sky above with fumes of Dark black smoke. Bart looked up at the raging flame and could hear the screams of the people inside.

[ The Flash Cw Theme. Epic version]

" Okay, Bart time to go to work." Bart said to hype himself up. He jumped up and down a few times as people ran by him. Bart's energy radiated in his eyes, the red electricity buzzing. *Boom! Bart ran inside the building, blowing the doors off their hinges and started on the first floor. One by one Bart, phased through the doors in apartment building and searched the rooms high and low for any person inside. Once Bart had completely evacuated the bottom floor, he turned and started on the next floor. The building had a total of nine floors, and on each floor a total of twenty rooms were filled. Each room had at least one to three people living in them. Bart knew this and so, made sure to search as best as possible as he ran. His lightning slowly flickering as he did. Unknown to him his red lightning was slowly turning yellow and back. By now, Bart had finished all but one floor.

' Alright Allen, you're almost done. We're on the last stretch now. One final push and we're good.' Bart thought to himself as he ran. He quickly ascended the ninth and final floor but was met by a massive wall of flame and ruins. The pathway for him had been destroyed. Bart knew that things weren't going to be easy. Bart phased into the nearest room and found that an elderly woman had been crushed to death by the rubble. Bart bit his lip and held his hand up to his mouth to keep himself from vomiting at the unsightly scene before him. Bart turned and continued on to the next room, seeing no point in staying any longer than he had already. Bart ran into the next room and saw a woman and a man passed out on the floor. Bart ran up to them and grabbed them and turned back around and ran them out of the building and onto the grass outside. He turned back and ran into the building as an explosion began in the bottom floor. Bart ran up to the ninth floor and cleared all the rooms but one. Once inside the last room, Bart looked around the room and found a woman trapped under a support beam struggling to get free. Bart ran over to the woman and phased her out from under the beam and ran her out the building.

As he stopped time seemed to kick back in as the murmurs and screams of those around him returned. " Is everyone all right!?" Bart looked around and yelled.

" My baby? Where's my son!?" the woman who was trapped under the support beam asked.

" I didn't see anyone else in the building. Where was he?" Bart asked the woman.

" He's inside. With my mom!" The woman yelled back

Bart's eyes widened as he remembered the crushed to death woman. He had seen her dead and assumed she was alone; he didn't stop once during his trip to check if anyone else was inside. Bart turned around and quickly ran back into the building.

Just as the woman watched Impulse run back into the building, it exploded. " NO!" The woman cried out in pain and anguish, collapsing to the ground as tears flowed down her face.

" Mommy!" The woman heard the sound of her son's voice calling out to her and looked up to the boy being carried towards her by Impulse.

The woman jumped to her feet and grabbed her son and hugged him tight as she cried tears of relief.

" He was the only one left alive in the building." Bart explained to the woman.

Having taken a hint of his message the woman's eyes dropped sadly, but that didn't deter her from thanking the man anyway. " Thank you! Thank you so much. Mr."

" It's." Bart was going to reply. But a message was suddenly sent out to all Avengers and X-men by Iron man.

" Attention all Avengers and X-Men, Dark Phoenix is currently 30,000 feet above Tibet. We've got to bring him back to earth for our one last shot. Who the hell is still standing out there?" Iron man asked globally.

" This is, Nova! I'm a hemisphere away. I'll be there in a few seconds." Bart heard Nova radio back to Stark.

Having received the message, Bart radioed to his teammates in Paris. " Gambit. Hawkeye. Did you get that?" Bart asked.

" Yeah." Gambit replied.

" Loud and clear." Hawkeye stated.

" Head on, over dere kid. We got things here." Gambit said to the boy as he helped move civilians out of the hazard zone.

" All, right." Bart replied. " I'll be there in a flash." Bart radioed to stark and ran off.

" Thank you, Flash." The woman said as Impulse raced away.

In Tibet.

" You girls can't beat me." Scott said to Wanda and Hope.

With the power that scott possessed only one thing could truly hurt him now. And that was Wanda's magic. And with Hope's ability to copy it they were the only two who were able to actually hurt scott at this point.

Scott avoided Hope and Wanda's attacks and knocked them both away. " Can't you see it? You two alone, don't have what it takes to defeat me." Scott arrogantly boasted his power over the two women.

" Then how about." Bart said as he ran around Scott causing him to spin. " I give them some breathing room." Bart finished as he shoved Scott away from the girl.

The girls wasted no time and use the moment to attack Scott once again.

" Avengers Assemble!" Captain America yelled as he and his team of Wolverine, Beast, Storm, Iron fist, and Iron man landed on the field.

The heroes all began attacking Scott together, pouring on the pressure while Wanda and Hope worked their magic. Captain America threw his shield into the back of Scott's head knocking him into Wolverine who slashed Scott multiple times with his claws. Scott reeled from the pain and was blasted in the face by Iron man's repulsor beam. Scott, who had collapsed to his knees from the pain found himself being assaulted now by Impulse who circled the man punching him all over the body.

" RRRRRRRRRGH!" Scott yelled in anger. The phoenix flexed its power and blasted the heroes away leaving only Hope and Wanda remaining to fight him.

However, as Scott stared out into the flames a familiar voice called out to him. " Scott. Scott, this has to stop." The voice said to the man. " Scott please." The voice pleaded with the man as she got closer appearing in the shape of his dead wife, Jean Grey.

" Jean?" Scott called out to the woman as she appeared in his line of sight.

" It's all right. I'm here now. It's time Scott, it's time to let go." Jean explained to the man.

" Jean I..." Scott started but was interrupted.

" I promise... it doesn't hurt." Jean explained to the man.

As Scott hallucinated his dead wife Wanda and Hope continued beating on Scott until finally, they managed to separate the Phoenix from his body. However, in doing so they gave the phoenix what it wanted originally.

" We did it! The phoenix has left him!" Wanda cheered however, as she did Hope found herself entranced by the majesty of the flaming god of life and death.

" I hear it... I hear it calling me." Hope stated as her eyes glazed over and burned with fire.

" Hope, no look away! HOPE!" Wanda called out to the girl in an attempt to free of her from the influence, but it didn't work. Hope absorbed the phoenix's power and started racing around the world putting out the fires and stopping the damage that Scott had created. Once she was done, she returned to the avengers and the X-Men as they gathered together.

" Hear me Avengers and X-men. No longer am I the woman you knew. I am fire and life incarnate. Now and forever, I am Phoenix." Hope exclaimed as she hovered above the group.

' Hope, not you too?' Bart thought as he looked up at the young girl. Her suit had changed into the direct opposite of what Scott wore.

" Nobody move. Give her a moment." Steve raised his hand and ordered.

" Hope... This has to stop." Wanda said to the girl as she approached her flaming form.

" All of this power... this is how it was meant to be. This is my destiny. I see where the others went wrong. Where they faltered. I will not fail. I will be the white phoenix; I will be the savior of all..." Hope was speaking as she reveled in her newfound power. However, she was swiftly cut off by Wanda once again.

" No... That wasn't why you were chosen. Look inside yourself. See what I see in you. This is your destiny. You're right. you were born to be the phoenix. But not so you could wield this power. It's because you're the only one with the strength to let it go." Bart explained to the young girl as he stood in front of her.

Wanda appeared Next to Bart and held his hand and Hope's in her own.

" Hear him, Hope. Hear me." Wanda said to the girl.

" Bart? Wanda? I feel... I feel like I'm on fire." Hope said to the two.

The three stood together holding each other's hands tightly. " Back in Kun'Lun, you were right about me. Once upon a time, I started this whole mess." Wanda said to the girl as she accepted the blame for nearly killing all of the mutant population in the first place. "Please... let us help you end it. No more fire. No more fighting. No more playing god." Wanda pleaded with the girl to let her help.

" Heh!" Bart chuckled. " I'm not asking for permission. You're my friend Hope. And friends stick together. I'm right here with you girl. Now, let's put an end to this crazy mess for good." Bart explained to the woman.

The three looked into each other's eyes and spoke in unison. " No more Phoenix." As they spoke those words the power the phoenix had over Hope faded away and in a brilliant burst of light and fire the phoenix left Hope's body, freeing the girl of the possession.

Seeing that things were finally over, the Avengers along with the X-men all gathered around Hope, Wanda, and Impulse as they celebrated their victory. When a message from spiderman revealed to them something interesting.

" Um, hey guys. This is spiderman in China. A kid here just grew wings." Peter radioed to the group.

Just as the last vestiges of the phoenix flame left the earth, a new light appeared. No, more than that. Millions of new lights began appearing all over the world. Despite all of the tragedy and lives lost in the war there was a bright side. The end of the phoenix signaled the end of an era. And the beginning of a new as mutants were once again returned to their glory. No more phoenix. More Mutants!

After that, things were relatively normal. Or about as normal as they could be at the time. I mean, I was an eighteen-year-old boy with the ability to run faster than light. So, normal is about whatever you decide it to be at that point. Anyway, after we celebrated, Scott appeared before us. When he took a look around at everything he had done, Scott collapsed to his knees and cried as he surrendered. I never blamed, Scott for what had happened despite everyone else seeming to have. But despite the horrible things the phoenix crazed man had done, in the end. Scott was right. The phoenix was the hope for our people. Our salvation. The phoenix had done exactly as scott said it would and returned our people to the millions it was before. And Hope was the one to do it. Thinking back on it, had Steve and the others simply allowed Scott to handle things as he had originally intended, maybe things wouldn't have turned out the way they did. Or maybe they would have been worse. Who's to say. All I know, is at the time I was happy to finally be finished with the fighting for a while. Only I didn't know at the time I was being watched.

Back to the present.

Away from the battlefield looking out over the defeated Phoenix, Thawne sat by with a shadowy ally and spoke. " So, Shadow king? Did you do it?" Thawne asked.

The smoky figure rose and smiled. " Yes, I did. I collected all of Xavier's spirit and have it in the Astral plane." The raspy voice of the shadow king replied.

" Good. You can leave." Thawne said to the man dismissively.

" Very well, I thank you for the deal. Until we meet again mystery man." The Shadow king replied before dissipating into smoke.

Thawne looked down at Bart and smiled. " Gotten faster, have you? And at an incredible rate as well. Your speed trail is almost at the next level. Which means you've hit the first of many bottlenecks. At least I have something to look forward to. Until next time Barry." Thawne said before running away.
