Chapter 29: My name? Dunno.

Slaido said with a grin on his face.

He looked a lot more lively than before. He wore a grey, thick jacket without any decorations on them. Valaea was wearing a white robe.

Slaido told me that it was better if Dya rode with him, because of the weight distribution.

I mounted with Valaea. And my back was against her bosom. It appeared that she was better endowed than I had expected. I rested against her, she was warm and soft.

I was getting cold and looked over at Dya. She was looking a bit disappointed. And also a bit jealous at Valaea, who did not mind my body pressing against her.

Valaea wrapped her robe around me, to make sure I would not get cold. Dya saw this and looked away with a shiver.

Slaido took off his jacket and gave it to Dya. The oversized jacked looked very cute on the small Princess.

It was a short, silent ride to the Barracks. When we arrived at the gate we were greeted by a guard who had one Red eye, although they were not as bright as Slaido's.

On the other side was a big scar, running from his forehead to his neck. It was a miracle that this man was still alive.

But then again, I have seen much worse, in this world and my own.

''Greetings youngsters, are you bad enough to enter?''

He said with a big smile.

''What are your bounties?

You need at least 1.000 to enter these halls, mehehe.''

Slaido showed him a small, white rabbit's foot. And Dya did not even respond to his question.

The guard allowed them to enter without further questions.

I sighed, knowing that my minimal bounty was not enough for entrance. And looked away in embarrassment.

Valaea noticed that I was becoming unconfortable and hugged me tightly. Her soft breasts were being squeezed against my back and I relaxed instantly.

With a flowing movement she took a sheet of paper from her robe and showed it to the guard. The one eyed guard laughed out loud and allowed us to enter.

I was a bit confused by this as I could not see what was written upon it. Valaea and I dismounted from her horse, who was named Bay Leaf.

A younger guard with hazel eyes and ash grey skin took Bay Leaf by the reins and brought her to the stables.

We entered the Barracks where a fire was now roaring in the fireplace. It was warm and cozy.

The Barracks were filled with soldiers, and many of them did not wear uniforms. Most of them wore civilian clothing.

The only thing that they had in common was that they all were wounded or injured in some way.

Some were missing fingers, others walked with a limb. One even wore bandages over his eyes. And he looked my way with a smile.

A tall man with dark brown hair and light green eyes walked over to me. And stuck out his hand to me. He was missing his index finger and a part of his middle finger.

I shook his hand without hesitation. On my first day at the school for disabled kids I shook hands more deformed than his.

And he noticed that I did not matter his disfigurement. He grinned widely, lifted me up and hugged me tightly.

I patted him on the back, looking around if I saw Dya or Slaido somewhere.

Slaido was sitting at a table with two older guys. One was missing a hand, and the other looked like he was still intact.

The man put me down gently and slapped me on the back. He directed me to an empty chair at the head of the table.

I blushed a bit, knowing that the head of the table is most often reserved for someone important.

Unable to sit down, I walked over to Slaido. He introduced me to the two other boys.

The one with one hand was called Kadeiva and the other was called Dunno. Because he had forgotten his name after being found on the battlefield by Valaea's Combat Medical Corps.

He looked like a nice person and shook his hand with vigour. He returned the favour in kind.

Kadeiva stuck out his stump with a inviting smile on his face.

He had big bright Red eyes like Slaido has. But his face was much more round and he was quite a bit shorter. Only a few centimeters taller than I am.

I grabbed his stump with two hands and shook it firmly.

Slaido slapped me on the back. And asked me why I was not shocked by their appearances.

I told him that in my world I was going to a school for disabled people who had much worse disfigurements than these young men have.

In my bus to school there were two boys: one was born with one hand, and had lost his good arm in a mechanical incident.

The other was born with a skin disease that forced him to be wrapped in bandages like mummy.

The three young man were amazed by this and asked me how I ended up on a school like that.

I told them that it was a long story, and that I was rather tired and hungy. So I would tell them the whole thing some other time.

They nodded in agreement and the four of us got distracted by a delicious smell eminating from the kitchen; dinner was served!

A row of servants in beige robes entered the Barracks with a dish that I would not have expected in this world:

Pizza!

I was not the only one to be delighted by the presence of this delicacy as the men in the room were roaring in excitement. The pizza's were a bit different from the ones I knew in my world.

They were served on big rectangular plates with ingredients I would not have put on a pizza. Some were topped with vegetables like eggplant and courgette.

Others even had a sweet smelling array of toppings like peach, mango and honey.

My interest was peaked by a large pizza with heavy cream, potatoes, onions and bacon. To my relieve none of them had pine-apple on them.

The pizza's were placed on the large table were Dya, Valaea, Slaido and I had lunch. After the servants left Valaea came into the Barracks dressed in a light blue dress.

She was greeted by the men like a rockstar; they were screaming her name, thanking her for saving them. Making pledges to fight to the death to protect her.

Valaea was completely blown away by this, even though it appears that it is a regular occurence in this place. She looked away shyly and tried to calm the roaring soldiers.

Doing her best to calm down her fanatic patients, she walked over to the most vegetarian looking pizza on the table.

It was a colourful mix of bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. She sliced a big piece of it and handed it over to the first man in the waiting queue.

''I.. I am truly humbled by your enthousiasm. But I really want you guys to sit down and eat your fill.

Don't forget your veggies and don't eat too fast. It will cause indigestion or other complications.''

After this short speech she said down next to Slaido who gestured at me to come sit next to him. I looked around if Dya was around.

Slaido pointed at the door and I saw Dya walking in with a large pizza. She was now wearing a lot less revealing outfit then before.

A smart move, because the soldiers greeted her with almost as much fervour as they did with Valaea.
