Write it like Shakespeare

I’ve always taken inspiration from the greats. You know them, don't you? If you didn't, I'd think you’d be living under a rock. Which maybe you were. It's not your fault. until recently you could say I was living under a rock. Rocks are heavy until someone comes to pick it up and take all the weight. I never depended on people taking the weight from my hands. B Shakespeare had told me. Well he wasn’t talking to me he was talking to the people. Or the people in his time I didn’t really know. In the quote he wrote. “If we are true to ourselves we cannot be false to anyone”. For along time I wondered what he meant I didn’t know nor did I realize until I met Gutter James

Chapter One

My room was a mess. My laptop is on top of jeans and sweatshirts. I didn't want to start procrastinating.

I wasn't procrastinating. You see I had nearly an extensive knowledge of dictionaries (I've read all of them my junior year). And I wished there was another word for not doing your work when you were supposed to. And I wasn't doing what I was supposed to be doing at all. I couldn't focus. My eyes darted through the pages of the blue notebook at my bedside. Don't ask me why I didn't write on my computer the whole time. I know what you're thinking. Boys don't use notebooks or whatever is on your bed. My fingers twitched towards my pencil. I wanted to touch it so I wanted to reach out my hand to pick it up. That's what was wrong with me.

I threw the notebook onto my desk. It landed with a smack against my lamp which flipped over onto the floor hitting the build onto the carpet and a crash.

The butterfly effect.

Shit.

I ran over to the carpet and the notebook was open to the same page I had been writing in four weeks weeks. IF you look at writers in the writing group I'm not sure what you call us. There's about 1 million names for us and I know all of them all. We only preferred one the writers guild consisting of Marsha, a girl who was obsessed with romance. Romance I inwardly shut down. I hated romance.

Then there was Quinn a guy who was interested in murder there was a joke that said he was going to be the next jake martin a character in his book who goes around and murders people behind there back.

Then there was Sami, a short girl who only writes in a journal. That's all I knew about her. For her birthday last week I was considering getting her a pin that said I enjoy journals. Which I broke and threw away at the last chance and then there was me.

Niko Sanchez

The only fluent Spanish speaker in the group. There was another joke that ran around the group.

Niko is going to go to Mexico and meet a hot chic and get married. That joke was from Marsha. Of course I threw my head back and sighed I was definitely not going to go to Mexico.

I had been there once when my uncle Billy lived there with my cousins but I didn't like it there. I consider places that get extremely cold in the winter and extremely hot in the summer. Like New York.

The writers guild met every two weeks on account of last Saturday when Marsha had a problem and that problem was that she had now idea what to name her character she immediately fixed that with naming her character Quinn. Today it was no difference holding her Computer up for everyone to see she announced it proudly

"I finished". Quinn raised an eyebrow.

"didn't you just come up with the name for the character". She shrugs her shoulders and I was secretly jealous. To me it wasn't fair how she could write so quickly or maybe it was low quality writing.

"yup and''. She gave Quinn a satisfied smirk.

"I'm not using your name anymore".

"what is it now?" I mutter my notebook which lay flat on its side. I hadn't opened it. I couldn't face the blank page that was my fear.

"oh it's Niko". I imagine she could come up with a more original name like there were tons of name generators online. She could have done one of those I knew for a fact that Sami used them. Which was the only time she basically opened her laptop.

"Can you do a name generator app or whatever?" she shrugged her shoulders. Again.

"nope I like your name Niko". She drawled out the o. around school she was known as a flirt it wasin so surprising though she could flirt with anyone but unlike some of the others like Qunn for example all re faced blushing.

I never blushed. I didn't see why. She had fairly pretty long strawberry hair and freckles. Guys like girls with freckles right whenever it was time to talk about our new characters most of them for quinn at least the girls would have freckles on their faces. As a general rule I didn't use girls as main characters they were what you'd call outside my comfort zone I had a lot of things outside of my comfort zone and girls were one I wasn't like those boys who obsess over girls all the time quinn was like that he had several girlfriends to show for his general handsomeness.

Blonde hair in beach boy curls that I've heard he calls them his baby. Today was my least favorite day, my favorite being silence at a coffee shop day. Every time we meet we follow a specific squirrel.

Mondays Character

Wednesday plot.

And Friday coffee shop day I had read somewhere that coffee shops were good for creative stimulation which I could vouch for unlike most things I couldn't vouch for.

Quinn went first today straightening his yellow tee shirt which blinded everyone's eyes and when I mean everyone I actually meant just me knowone else was paying attention. Marsha was twisting her hair in her finger glancing at me. And Sami Sami took notes. Last Monday since we pretty much had nothing to show for what we did the week after, Sami decided that she would be the best person to take note of what we were doing.

To me it was a good idea.

"Im first".

"when are you not". Sami spoke her voice cool and collected out of all of us. I would say that Sami was the one who never really spoke since none of them really spoke Spanish. I would say things which some weren't the nicest they didn't know so I kept saying it. Speaking Spanish had its advantages.

"Okay shut up Sami".

"don't tell me what to do asshole". She used colorful language which wasn't a surprise. Her books were adult when Marsha chose Young adult she chose adult. She said she had experience with colorful linguee.

"Okay guys''. Marsha raised her hand to silence them. It didn't work so with a sigh she threw a pillow, a rest pillow that leaned on the couch that said Hello my friend with a picture of an angel under it. When Quinn said we should get another pillow, a cool one. We chose this one. Or more like he chose it. Marsha just stood and watched him look around Walmart. I didn't even know they had thrown pillows in Walmart but they did.

"what the Marsha!" she just grinned like the bubley character in her novel.

"so". He opened his laptop, spinnin it over to face us. He was one of the kids who used words while I used google docs. Safer Well at least I thought it was safer.

"Michael blah blah blah". What he was actually saying was to kill each other and Jake goes to hell. Which was just an abridged version of the novel. Marsha went more sami than I. I lifted myself off the chair and into the center where a chalk board was. I had left my computer at home under the pile of my clothes but now I wished I had brought them with me. I didn't know what to say.

"uh my characters go to hawaii". They did go to Hawaii. I wasn't technically lyings at least I didn't think so.

I had two characters in my book: a red haired genius and a blonde haired idiot. They were technically based off of Marsha and Quinn but Marsha wasn't a genius not at all.

"and then they". I hadn't planned it out so far in my head as to what I was going to say. I opened up my notebook again. The writing now looked like the letter two close together. I don't know why I wrote in cursive when I can't even read cursive.

Thankfully my phone rang to the annoying tone of abc A toon my dad had put on there in a joke. I stepped away from her view clicking the answer button.

"Hey Mom''. My moms crackly voice answers

"where are you?"She should have known where I was. I tell her all the time that I'm always at the writers guild.

"Mijo Get down to the hospital now". She sounded panicky and my head warped.
