We go up to the rooftop where we could be alone. We watched some birds that were flying and landing together.

We brushed away some leaves at the ground to clear it before sitting down.

I couldn’t help but think how impossible this moment seemed to be. Here I am, with pretty cheerleader captain Susan in her most vulnerable state. And she chose to cry in front of me, in front of the simple insignificant Hailey Madrigal.

She sat beside me with her legs to her chest while she allowed me to comb her hair. For a moment, I wondered where my brother could be.

Is he aware that Susan lost to Dana? He should be the one here right now to comfort her when she needs him the most.

“I’m sorry that you found me like this.” Susan pointed out while picking a leaf. I just nodded in reply while I’m combing her hair by my brush.

“Where are your friends? They must be looking for you right now,” I said. Or my brother is, actually.
