Chapter 15: Opportunity

“I hope Susan will win again. I could not imagine this year with Dana on the seat; it’s going to feel like middle school again, and I don’t want to go back to the past,” Elaine tells me while we’re passing our acrylic art painting of each other (futile attempts from amateur artists) for our MAPEH class.

MAPEH stands for Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health. It’s the only subject where we needed to study under four different teachers.

We were walking in tiptoe inside Mr. Carlos’s (our Arts teacher) office because we are passing this assignment way past the deadline.

“I doubt Susan will win this time. I mean Dana can win too because it is obvious that she stole the crowd’s heart from her heartfelt speech that she didn’t make,” I said while shrugging. “Don’t wish for that. We’ll see it today when we’re going to pass by the main bulletin board.”

We positioned our paintings beside each other as what Mr. Carlos instructed us to do.
